A suggestion, Mike, is to Install Anderson Connectors (175 Amp) onto all of your vehicles, wired directly to the battery, and keep an extension lead with the same plugs on each end with each vehicle. Then, when you need to start one in poor weather conditions, you can simply plug another vehicle into it with no crocodile clips, starter packs etc. To worry about! I have seen this in use here in the UK by roadside recovery operators, a lead from an Anderson connector on the rear of their truck to Crocodile clips on the client's battery, the weak link being the battery connection. One use a year for each vehicle would make it worthwhile. They even do panel mounting ones, so no dangling leads to get caught in compartment doors etc.

Morning Mike! Great video and yes, a good cement truck driver is worth his weight in gold! Over the years I've found that fabric under a new road is also worth it's weight in gold. Neighbor across the road, put in a brand new drive, a 1/4 mile long drive, 20 years ago. We put fabric down and it hasn't been re-graveled since. A few years back, I put a new septic system in for one of my church members. When I dug the ditch across his 1948 installed driveway, the 57 limestone gravel was pushed down in the soil 36 inches deep. Another neighbor put in a new drive just a little bit down the road from us. Told him about the fabric, he didn't put it in, and I know he's put gravel down on it at least 6-times. You can buy a lot of fabric at $29 a ton for limestone gravel. Look'n for ward to the next episode! Lee

Hi Mike. Getting that stone spread out on top sure does give the site a nice, finished look. I'm sure it is just the camera angle, but those footings didn't look deep enough. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Brought back old memories with the mocking ducks, my sister was always self conscious about her legs and whenever she wore shorts in the backyard my other sister used to say the ducks are laughing at you again. She was pure evil. The ducks were just being ducks, they laughed at everyone. Nice job with the concrete and gravel, always nice to see someone with a talent demonstrating it. Funny comment about the floor in DP’s truck. Every few days I’m left thinking MBTS is just a poser at a helper, I’ve never seen him sweep or pickup cans like you used to. Wishing you and your family the best.

Cap’n we have Red Tailed Hawks that nest continuously in our woods. They are excellent squirrel hunters. It’s interesting to watch the interplay between the two… the squirrels are drawn by the thousands of hickory nuts, walnuts and acorns that litter the ground. They leave their nests in groups to scurry about… it’s not uncommon to see a dozen or so from my porch. But, it only takes one screech from a hawk to send them fleeing to the safety of their nests. On several occasions I’ve seen their escapes interrupted when they were plucked from trees in mid stride. On one occasion I saw one grabbed as it peeked out of its nest. The hawks are far better at thinning out the squirrel population than my beagles… and, now my point… I’ve eaten both squirrel and duck. By far, I prefer the taste of duck. So, I won’t be getting any ducks for fear that the hawks will lose their affinity for tree rats! Cap’n, keep feeding those ducks to your hawks. But, please tell them not to fraternize with my Ozark hawks!

Great project! If you'll pardon the suggestion, I think you could ramp up the nautical theme, as things are certainly taking shape now. For instance, you could use the terms 'bow' and 'stern' when referring to the building itself and maybe use leagues or fathoms when referring to the depths of the services, etc. On that note, how many knots were you doing on that quarry run? OK, I'll stop now!

Why is it, batteries always chose the most annoying time to go on strike? If I were you, I'd check the earth lead of that battery is well earthed, and make sure its tight! I know it's just something else to add to the list, but you could use the 555 a lot more if it would start! You know that and don't need someone else telling you what to do (I'm not telling, just suggesting), but a little time spent on maintenance, saves a lot of trouble, and you get to use it more often. Saving time, is saving money don't forget! As always Mike, my sincere best wishes to you in your escapades, as I can't actually physically aid you, (don't forget that little pond between us!) I try and give good advice. Thanks for showing us your ventures and hope you got her started (eventually). from UK.
