I head out into the woods with my dog Monty to build a shelter without using any tools and only using materials found on the ground. We finally start to hear the sounds of spring as we cook up delicious food over a campfire!

Hey guys! Spring is *FINALLY HERE!* I got to build a shelter this year before the bugs hatched and it went pretty well! I have been itching to see the ground for a good month and I am currently scratching that itch as hard as I can. I am packing to head back into the woods to go on an overnighter in my canoe so I may not get to read and respond to all of your comments until tomorrow! Sorry about that! This will most likely be the last shelter build of the season until fall as the bugs will most likely be hatching this week and be out in full force! This will sound silly but my wife and I watched this video last night - New Years eve - we had to put our 15 year old dog to sleep this year and just totally enjoyed this video with Monty. We then watched another video of yours with two dogs camping with a tent and stove tent. Wonderful - not that it matters but this made our New Years eve in this time of Covid. I'm totally in love with Monty. I love the bond you have with each other. My daughter and her friend are building a shelter in the woods where we live. And kids keep ruining it. I agree! I'm 70 yrs old, and get off on this young strong man tearing branches off with his bare hands- dragging and pushing heavy branches- throwing leaves- man and beast and his world. Very refreshing and inspiring. And the easy going narrative adds some human commentary and explanation. Hi Monty, (& Matt too.) I watch your videos everyday now & its become an addiction. I've been without my wonderful Pit Bull RC for several years now & I still miss her greatly. She never knew she was a Pit Bull. She thought she was a big lap dog, all 90lb of her. All she wanted was to be petted, constantly. God I miss her. RC also did the trick with the treat on the nose, that you did with Monty. She would sit patiently with the treat on her nose until I gave her the go ahead & she would barely move her head & the treat would disappear. It would take less than a couple seconds. I never could figure out how she did it. She was very smart & the biggest love bug dog of all time. Watching Monty & you brings back all these memories for me. In a surprise to me I am considering getting another Pit Bull or a big dog of some kind. My favorite dog is the Pit Bull. These are very misunderstood dogs & they just want to be loved. Yes I know all about the people being bitten & hurt by pit bulls but also all the other dogs (German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chows, etc) that don't get bad press when they rip into a child or adult. The way you raise the dog is how they are going to be. I've met plenty of mean ferocious dogs that become jelly once I show them attention & lots of love. Isn't that all any of us really want anyway, to be loved & petted by someone that truly loves you. I know I want that again. Thanks Matt & Monty for making great video's that keep me entertained for many, many hours. Thanks for making me want another dog to love & love me back. I think I really need this for many reasons. Hi Matthew and Monty. I am from Canada and just came across your videos the past few days. I absolutely love shows like yours that are all about nature and camping. We used to camp every chance we had back in my younger healthier days and I sure miss it a lot...and I mean a lot. However watching you with your Monty has been such a refreshing show. I have felt like I have been on these outings with you both. You are one very free kindred spirit.. you definitely have a heart gold. and respect for all nature. Nothing fake about you. :) I can see why your channel is taking off so well. You are just you being yourself and loving Monty so much. You both make a great team and that's what makes you so special. i have watched many others camping with their dogs too. but you have that special unconditional bond. and your humor reminds me of mine with my little pups here. they are like our family members not pets. right? Everyone comments on how well trained and good nature Monty is too. He is adorable and so trusting of you. you can see that in those big brown eyes of his. I love love how you take care of him. with his booties,raincoat air pad and tuck him in his bed every night. I always say. If the dog is remarkable then it is due to all the love and care and gentle training from his owner. I know I'm stuck on watching you both now. I have been binge watching all your videos and still have more to go. yay! the dynamic very cute duo. btw where is your lady? I saw a bit of her in a couple of your videos what a little cutie!..she too seems like your perfect match... looks like she can handle herself pretty good too out in the wilderness ..even has her own pup too! ...amazing little family. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us Matthew. Just be careful and safe out there all alone. .. Just wondering lmao... are you not worried or scared out there alone. Like one day you might meet up with Bigfoot :p I'm a fence sitter when it comes to him... but just the same...oh man alive! I know I would be afraid out there all alone. especially the remote places you go. My imagination would get the best of me...lmao Looking forward to watching more of your adventures.

That's a nice shelter and you didn't have to cut anything down to build it. Monty's a great dog. I like how he let's Ruger do the retrieval and then steals the stick one he returns with it when they're together. Quinzhee is how Quincy, MA is pronounced but nobody realizes why it's from Colonial times living in shelters
