Good to see a soldier of the NZ defense force going strong to this day. Both of my families carry titles in all the forces, although few come close to your experience: -Father's a Flight Sergeant Uniform and Fabric/Graphics designer, and leads the team that makes new uniforms for Air Force recruits in Woodbourne. -Mother's the Main accommodations and Catering manager for ESS, and manages all the people across the bases around NZ after being primarily based in Woodbourne and Bernham pre-2020. (She is only civil but she makes sure that the military and civil visitors are well-fed and maintained throughout the sites like Waiouru, Devonport, Linton and all the others) -Family member in my mother's side is a distinguished rank in the army, (Don't want to give too much away for classification reasons but they're along the lines of a 4-star major/colonel [Don't remember which one] that is based in the lower north island) -I do plan to enlist as an Aviation Engineer in the future myself, but I'm currently gaining life experience and am trying to lose as much weight as possible before going for it (Need the experience before going in, I'm currently overweight for my body class and a bit out of shape after a bad few years prior) -Great Grandfather served in WWII as Navy (He was a Retired Reverend in Motueka before he passed in his 90's) Thank you for your service.

I just showed my husband this video tonight (he's still in a nursing home). He really enjoyed it and said, "that guy is smart!" I call him my Daniel Boone because he has hunted deer with an 1891 Marlin lever action safety rifle (mine now), has trapped, skinned, and mounted small animals and tanned deer hides, and has fished the creeks in western New York and Lake Erie for walleyes (also other fish) and used to catch frogs to sell or eat their legs, which he loves. Yet, he never learned what you teach. So, thank you.

I'm hearing people saying they are too old for this, at 50 +, I'm 75, ex canadian military, same rank, Calgary Highlanders, and PPCLI airborne, have done solo trips since age 10 with no gear, a little gear, and too much gear, and this is so simple, it's living like a king/queen for you - first time to see this gents presentation, excellent. We did arctic conditions, with snow bank sleeping quarters, and similar - if you think you are too old, then change your thinking, I met 93 year olds still plying the Mackenzie river system from mid Albertra to the Mackenzie delta by canoe many years ago, They didn't know they were supposed to be too old. It's all in your attitude. fabulous info for the newbies, like it immensely - Im sure all you people will thrive on the cpls insights - I'm still going strong, and still learning new stuff....... top of the day to you all and to you Cpl. great stuff.

I've been a fan of your videos for years. I like the way you teach. I was all of a sudden homeless twice in my life and didn't have this knowledge, boy I wish I had. I absorb what I am capable of doing, and practice in my back yard , enjoying practicing the bush craft. I'm in Sebring Florida and it gets rainy in August and now September almost every day , thank you for showing craft in rainy weather too . I like the wind break all around, I feel safer. I love the narrative. When I was 13 a young star scout I went thru a Snow Survivals BSA Test in a Saddle at the base of Sugarloaf Mt. 2 Explorer Leaders grabbed my 50 lbs. Never considered the full length fire pit. Great idea. I really like this setup. It could be built in small stages to conserve energy. If a person watches this video and builds his/her bug out bag or emergency kit with this shelter in mind, they could stay pretty comfortable in most situations.

Of course, it's not like in the US where there are much lower temperatures, but I've had to camp without a tent at temperatures of -5°C, even getting sick because of my lack of preparation at that time and I know how much knowledge you're going through. now they are invaluable. Great vid . Reminds me of when I was a kid building forts in the bush with my buddies . One thing we used to do was heat up rocks , grape fruit size rap them in a towel and put them in our sleeping bags . Put your feet on the rapped rock just don't rub them too much with your feet cause if it come unwrapped and you touch with your bare feet you will come dancing out of you sleeping bag let me tell you : )

Marine I’m not sure how religious you are, but I wanted to testify of your unexpected blessings to 3 little boys that lost their home , cars and everything in them in the Dec 10 tornados here in Bowling Green, Ky ,one 8 and two 9 yr olds, I had prayed to be able to help them some other way then monetarily and rides back and forth to FEMA/ assistance appointments .I work with their adoptive single mother named Angela, she asked if the boys Christmas gifts could be sent to our house as they are staying in a motel. They were , we opened the boxes to wrap them for her , these boys are apparently in to bush craft big time, and from my years of experience and picking up tips from you and other creators I have a lot of extra gear I’ve bought over he years., and it shall be theirs this Saturday , what you do is more of a community service than you or I ever knew, GOD bless you and thank you for your service beyond your enlistment

I love your sleeping system and if mine don't work out I will check that one out and see about getting it. Your camp setup is superb and one I would love to build when camping out. You have the right idea of using the trash bags to help build your bed up off the ground and the walls you built up as well. I have learned so much by watching you and David Canterbury's videos and hope to put that knowledge into action when camping out. I will be checking out the gear you recommend on your site and see which ones I don't have and get them to add to my backpack as long as it don't add too much weight. Food is about the only thing I really need in my pack since I already have the basics in it. Hello Corporal, I am a 65 yr old Army veteran 1973-1976. I am getting a lil too old to get out in the woods, and fight the elements, and I really appreciate being able to do it through your videos. Thank you for not cursing, being vugar, and being family friendly. WonderMonkey Outdoors everyone keeps mentioning that but for the bundle he carried it would be easier to just carry with your arms... if it was spikey wood maybe better but taking the 3-5 minutes to make that isn’t that worth it to Cary the load one handed. I don’t know I have long arms so it would be no problem for me

I really like your videos, not only for what I learn from them, but for that Zen precision and calm that seems to emanate from them. I am also a fan of the Swagman roll and it combines very well with the old kifaru woobie express (they don't do it anymore), but in a hammock one as an underblanket and another as an overblanket are wonderful. Another element that works very well and I recommend that you take a look is the Trifecta HT from 2gosystems, it works very well in addition to a poncho-hammock and that Swagman roll.
