Hi David - thanks for sharing this with us. Ted likes the way you made the accent planks in bulk. And he likes your workshop too! Our little business would not be half as much fun if we did not have builders like you who inspire us to keep going! Making things is a good way to endure this pandemic and we hope you and your family are safely home as it seems you are. Joan and Ted
@DavidParker4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joan! I would never have built a canoe and found a love or canoeing had it not been for you and Ted! We have been staying home but thankfully in New Zealand there is no current community transmission so I could have a little gathering to celebrate the launch!

It makes sense, to get started one step at a time. I think I'll get all my stuff from bearmountain place, then once the mold is done, the second one wont sink. I used cast iron strips. -- this is getting to be fun, I don't know If I'll ever get it in the water, but it will look cool in the yard. Thanks much.

Great build! One day I hope to build a canoe. I would love to understand what made the stapleless build easier than using staples.
@DavidParker3 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t because it’s easier, it was to avoid the staple holes in the strips which you can still see in the end. But in some ways I felt like I had more control over pressing the strips together etc so I wouldn’t say it’s much harder than staples, but it is slower
@TheGrantAlexander3 жыл бұрын
@@DavidParker thanks! Makes sense to me ☺️ did you have to wait for the glue to cure completely before moving on to the next level?
@DavidParker3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGrantAlexander haha yeah, I mean unless it was a particularly tricky strip to clamp id maybe do another after about 4 hours so I could get 4 or 6 strips a day but I didn’t mind taking my time on that part of the process
