Hey Raf! Great stream as always! You know maybe you could do a stream / video where you review some portfolios of awesome artists like Daniel, Andrew, Gio, Glauco, etc. and tell us what makes them different from like 90% of portfolios out there. I think it would be very interesting and different... Have a great day man!!!

Hey Raf, Great video, I know you can produce a character in 3d pretty fast, but is there still a distinct difference between Character Artist and Character Concept Artist? For me more and more it seems they are blurring into one.
@titussu21694 жыл бұрын
Character concept artist: - Make 2D Character concept arts - or 3D Character but rendered in 2D as output Character Artist: - Make 3D Character model (from sculpting, retopo, texturing, shading and stuffs) - Also responsible to put other character stuffs (Cloth / Hair) into production pipeline - Sometimes do 2D character concept art as well or Character Animation depends on studio needs

@@titussu2169 Hey, thanks for replying, Yeh thats what I thought the difference was but im seeing more and more guys doing such high level character concepts in 3d and so fast like Raf that they are pretty much what goes into the game minus the optimisations - retopo etc. So is it a waste of time to just try and set your portfolio as a traditional concept artist when studios are going to want you to be able to produce such high level 3D concepts, which can be then optimised to be working assets.
@titussu21694 жыл бұрын
@@gladiatorscoops Yes, that's more likely - minus the optimisations i guess. but it is pretty big deal, since the optimisation take alot of different skills set and time. well, first of all IMO... There is no 'waste of time' in trying improve your art. When people are good and improving in traditional/2D art, they can easily transition to 3D art with little obstacle. Learning in 2D will improve our 3D, and vice versa. and.... yes it is actually depends on your 'desired studios', it would be nice and faster if we are going to lock on to some studio. Research the type of concept art they prefer and build your portfolio towards them. Concepting in 3D is cool but there is still a lot of weak points. I would say there is still around 80%+ studios using 2D concept artist as their pipeline. So don't bother much and keep doing your best & what you like and enjoy. learn something new also fun & never hurts. Cheers

Very plainly, is the concept art industry saturated to the point that most people are crazy to pursue this as a way to feed themselves and their families?

Its funny, ive heard the opposite. Ive heard that its more important to get good artisticly and thn the technical skills will come eventually, but idk. Its all confusing.
@yasid1004 жыл бұрын
it's true, i heard the same thing from alessandro baldasseroni. in the end everything is parallel, artistic things and technical things.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. You can't skip steps and make good art if you don't know the software. If you want to practice with other mediums that could be a way to improve. If you want to create characters in 3D i recommend you follow the steps to learn the software and fundamentals first before trying to make complex characters.

@@grassetti okey thank you for clarifying Raf, its not my intention of going against your word. i was just curious thank you for explaining to me and clarifying things. keep making good videos man. your work ethic and art is a true inspiration.
