Interesting method for mounting the box to the neck. I've not tried drilling through the ends of the box like that, but I certainly will on the next build I do that doesn't use a hard tail bridge. Thanks very much for this series, Mr. Crowe. Cheers!

You did in a few hours that which takes me 10-15 hours on average. And being your first CBG makes that fact even more impressive.

I am getting ready to build a small box/case for my Zoom R8 and the little foot pedal I got for it. Seeing this makes me want to build a Zoom R8/pine practice guitar and leave the back where it can be opened and closed, kind of like the Martin Backpacker only with storage in the back for battery powered recording with the R8. I'll stick with the box first then fidget around with a pine practice neck. I won't buy any good wood until I'm better at it. I have tons of pine to get through first, somehow.

+shawnsdada That fretboard came up like my Musicman Silhouette. Looks amazing, it's got me thinking about using maple on my next guitar.

+shawnsdada It depends on what kind of oil it is. This is finishing oil. That's a little bit different. I think what Scott meant was the lemon oil you see people putting on rosewood.

+shawnsdada You don't oil a sealed, finished maple fretboard.

+shawnsdada How does it ruin it? I Lemon oiled a used guitar a bought to remove the old finger gunk and make it shine, but I also went through with a clean cloth to get as much of it off as possible. I have noticed the strings tarnishing faster, but it hasn't affected the tone.

Try doing it with cookie tins... They have a fantastic sound.... I make fairly regular raids on the local thrift stores getting them.. I make a lot of them using various 3 and 4 string tunings.. Mandolin tuning and a 4 string Banjo tuning is nice.

Damn I want some of that oil. That works brilliant. It would mean I'd have to build something though.

Hi, me and my father got a build your own guitar kit for Christmas and we are looking to purchase some of your wood dyes. The postage is £8 something and we are living in the uk a few hours away from the store. We where wondering if you could get us a discount code on our purchase. If you can then great and thank you. Yours sincerely, Sam

Entertaining to watch you but really comes down to science fiction if anyone is interested in useful tips for building a cigar box. First off building in a "rush" is never a good recipe for success. And I guess because you are in a "rush" you can't bother to explain all necessary steps for a successful build like for example using 0000 steel wool or 600 to light sanding and polish in between oil coats for a smooth finish. I tried your finishing oil because of this video and I it was not as user friendly as it seems and I honestly think good old danish oil would have done a better job. I went up to 2000 grit and got a glass surface like on my guitar before applying your oil, sad to say it is not even half as smooth as before applying your "improved formula". I guess it is like the famous lemon oil confusion, folks go to your local wood supply store and get howard's feed n wax for your fretboards and regular danish oil for your finishes. Cheaper and just as good or better. It is incredible how overpriced any item gets as soon as it says "for guitars"
