"clearly medicine is something you should focus on early" If only the game showed you this by putting a giant star on it in the research tree; oh wait, it did.

The star was a horrible indicator, having the button flashing or with a highlight or lighter shade overlay would make much more sense. I thought the star was a 'favourite' feature.

@cathygrandstaff19572 жыл бұрын
Although watching RCE’s play it’s less hard if you follow the recommended researches because you get the doctor before you encounter the poisoned refugees and can cure them. Although that might change in the finished game but in the demo it looks like there’s a right order to get upgrades in that will make the game easier.

Common misconception that the heart is on the left side of the chest. This is largely due to when you "place your hand on your heart" you put your right hand over the left part of your chest as this is where you can feel your heartbeat the strongest. However, the heart is actually in the direct center of the of the upper torso (why people are trained to shoot for the center of mass and CPR is performed using the sternum, which is directly in the center of the upper torso, to artificially pump the heart). The root of this misconception comes from the heart being not symmetrical. The right half is smaller and acts an input for the deoxygenated (blue) blood returning from spreading oxygen throughout the body; the left half is larger and acts as an output for the oxygenated (red) blood to be sent throughout the body. Because the left half is an output, it uses more strength to pump out the (red) blood than the right half, which only has to pump the blood that is already naturally returning to it. As it is larger and uses more strength, when hearing your heart beat, you hear and feel the first beat, coming from the left half pumping, far easier than the second lighter beat of the right half. This is also why you often see in media cutting the left part of the neck to quickly kill a person. This is the location of the external carotid artery (the right carotid is the internal carotid artery so it is deeper in the neck) that has a direct connection to the heart's aorta which is connects to the aortic valve. The aortic valve is where all the oxygenated blood flows into from the left ventricle where blood is pumped from from the left atrium, that is connected to your pulmonary veins aka the veins from which the freshly oxygenated blood from your lungs flow through. Thus severing the external carotid artery doesn't just cutoff most oxygenated blood from the brain but due to the heart being so close it causes rapid blood loss as each pump of the heart forcing the blood out very quickly (in case your wondering, the vein that has the deoxygenated blood that's being returned to the heart flow through it is your jugular vein). The left half of the chest cavity is already full from your left lung. The heart being at the center makes the most sense both logic and design-wise. But don't feel bad about believing this misconception, it was only a couple years ago that I learned I was fooled and that's after I got out of college...so even in college I didn't know where the heart actually was located (but I didn't feel to bad as after I learned, I checked with my friend and even he thought it was on the left side of your chest...even my parents did...)

This looks really cool. I wonder if it’s going to have a predictable series of hazards in the finished game or whether it will be randomized. Maybe it’ll be like The Flame in the Flood and have a story mode where what you encounter is more or less fixed and an infinite mode where everything is random.

what a cool concept, its like watching the dawn of a mythical civilization, rich with tales of the giant beast they're built atop. 10,000 years in the future when the creature has long died and turned to stone-stacks and mountains surrounding the city, the great descendants of these first settlers, now wealthy and powerful ruling houses, lord over their great kingdom, passing on the legends of the beast to their descendants. with each generation growing more and more skeptical toward the validity of these lgends. awesome.
