Love your content! I have been a life long collector along with previously owning 2 shops for the better part of 20 years. Recently started a channel myself! Thanks for being an inspiration!- 😊 Subbed! ( my personal account has been Subbed for a long time 😉 )

I have a low-grade maybe 2.0 Meet Corliss Archer #2 which would benefit from a press. But it's signed on the splash page by Al Feldstein which is pretty cool. Didn't realize it when I bought it. It's not authenticated. This is from the years before authentication.

Recently found your channel and really enjoy the info. I've been out of collecting for 20+ years. I have a small collection, but I've thought about doing something like this as a side hustle. I'm still not comfortable with properly assessing grades and value since I've been gone so long, but I saw one of your videos about grading as well. Anyhow, don't know if I'll ever get this going but really appreciate the content and info dude!

Love the breakdowns in this series. 80+% seems like a wildly high profit margin, especially considering you're usually making these purchases from sellers who are also in the comic business. How/why would they be selling so far below value if you think you can get so much more for them?

Values are values. I tend to be very accurate (even underestimate a bit) what I can sell the comics I purchase for. I can’t tell you why someone else chooses to sell a book for whatever they sell it for. I just put in a lot of time and effort to find the ones that are priced far enough below current/expected prices to make them worth my time and money to buy and sell. What people don’t see when I show the books I purchase are the hundreds/thousands that I pass on because they aren’t at a price that I can make enough profit on that it’s worth my time. In this case, I probably looked at about 200+ different books they had for sale. These, in my opinion were the best 6 with respect to the value I could get from them. So that’s 3% of the books I looked at. And that’s actually high for me. Normally it’s a much smaller percent that meet that threshold for me to purchase.

@@AutomaticComics Yeah, I think this is an under-appreciated aspect of the business. Knowing where to look and being disciplined in your purchases is huge.

Curious, I have a number of raw low grade Superman golden age comics from #10 to 40s. Grade range is 1.5 to 4 with average around 3. Do you think these would be candidates to get graded?

Nice video... I can see that previous experience is invaluable to making it in the comic business. I'm buying a house for my communist hillbilly wife so I'll be away from the comic market for a while. I'll be doing my buying and selling through your channel so keep it up and thanks...

You stole that Corliss Archer. I've bid on all 3 issues and never won. Congrats.🤑

It's funny, because you're doing this as a teachable moment..but you're literally creating another mini business on the side in the process..sort of 😅
