BUILDING A CUSTOM BUMPER, The Epic Roadster-SUV Fusion

In this episode, I’m cutting the original Toyota MR2 Roadster / Spyder front bumper and one from and SUV to merge them into a one-off custom design!
The perfect alternative for an expensive body kit that doesn't exist.
This is Episode 3 of my supercar build.
What you’ll see in this video:
The tools and techniques for cutting and merging the two bumpers
My strategy for aligning two completely different parts into one custom piece
The challenges (and solutions!) when creating custom car mods
Want to see the full transformation? Stick around till the end to see if this one-off bumper lives up to my vision!

Love the idea of blending different cars together to make something special. No need to build from scratch when there are all these wonderful cheap parts out there. Indicators line up with fog lights beautifully. More chance to fit an LED there.

Great video, very informative and the end result fits the line of the car nicely. But @ 12:10 just use WD-40 - spray it, let some time to soak in and wipe off. You might have to rub or scrub a little. Works great with all kinds of stickers and residues.

Amazing work - and I must have found you as doing the same (sort) of bumper project myself. And yes I have found my new part bumper by..............looking at cars. I have also built my own headlights for a total of...................$540, instead of the $3500 for after market ones. Took a lot of thinking..................but got there.

I'm working on a similar project for my car. It's a 1998 Lexus ES300 (aka Toyota Windom). I bought a spare bumper from a junkyard and a donor bumper from a 2005 Acura TSX (aka Honda Accord). I was thinking of leaving some plastic from the bumper and using panel bond for my project to ensure a stronger bond between the two bumpers

Dont use Spacers if you can get away with it. They are dangerous and your tire wear will be terrible
@CamilSofrag

I would not call them dangerous since they are used in motorsport often, but I want to keep the wheels tucked in as mush as possible. In the mean time I've realized that I can install longer log bolts and install the thinnest spacer that clears the caliper carrier, which is a 5mm

I'm trying to help you since English is not your first language. Don't you mean to say one-OF-a-kind or one OF one, NOT one-OFF target? Just pointing out that extra F so you can correct your thumbnail before it's too late!
@CamilSofrag
@CamilSofrag 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the heads up, the thumbnail was intended as a play on words, so I've checked and according to google : one-off "something done, made, or happening only once. ". I wanted to say one-off (and the picture would continue ) bumper

Really unfortunate you chose such an ass ugly bumper to replace the great looking factory one. Cool project otherwise
@CamilSofrag
@CamilSofrag 3 ай бұрын
I am curious when you will see this finished, if I managed to change your opinion and maybe you can leave me a comment then with your thoughts. The main reason why I chose this one is because from the side view you can clearly see that the lower end tapers up, and I was looking for something like that because of the cross country theme. If I would have used a bumper that has a lower end, acting as a plough... I need to think about practicality Regardless, thank you and I hope you will enjoy what comes next.
