Building a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure for an Infiniti Q50 (part 3)

This is part 3 of the fiberglass enclosure build for my Infiniti Q50. I encountered an issue in the previous video that was in need of a quick fix. Once that was remedied I continued on with the building process.

Now that's quality content right here, love how you take the time to explain each of the steps! Who goes to the trouble of showing what an enclosure looks like from the inside anymore! Thanks very much, that is great inspiration for hobbyists like me. You mentioned in the series that stapling the fleece was a bad idea. Could you please elaborate why?

Thank you I really appreciate that! In regard to the staples, I wouldn’t have stapled the fleece into the sub ring. It put way too much much material into the area where the sub would go and I had to grind and cut all that shit out to get it to fit again. haha

Tips for your next box: add wood dowels to add more strength without adding more fibreglass mat. And use gorilla hair, it’s a fibreglass body filler. On the inside of your box. On your seem.

​@@FoxcrazeI know this is a bit old, but I'm giving a fibreglass enclosure a go as I need to free up some space in the car. Did one about 10 years back which wasn't bad, but also wasn't great. 😅 This video series has been pretty helpful, but just curious if you recall how much resin and CSM you used all up? (not including the bondo/filler, as I'll be doing a different finish). This is a very similar size enclosure so it'd be awesome to have a ballpark for materials I need. Many thanks from Australia

I honestly don’t remember I believe I did use almost all of that gallon of resin I bought but I didn’t need anymore. As for the chopped mat, I bought 3 packs of mat but I also had some from a previous project. I did get it all off Amazon though.

Actually you are mixing the Fiberglas bondo with your resin... it’s supposed to be regular bondo. Polyester filler

I know what was suppose to be used, however I wanted to test the fiberglass in the mix instead since it was more flexible than polyester filler and it would provide a bit more strength to the face of the box. If I were to have painted this Instead of wrap then I would have definitely done the reg rondo mix.
