Very nice fabrication very clean. I assume you used a piece angle iron to fabricate a mounting bracket for the Hiem joint

A piece of flat stock butted into the frame. Tig welded and then used bondo to blend before painting

The box looks like an old mustang box. 68 to 70. I was considering the same box for my 31 build.

Why weld that smooth 3/4 rod. Why not another setscrew?? What about body&frame flex? What happens to the tight steering shafting,column, Vega box,in regards to stress points?

Every application is different. This is what worked on this project.

Just found this video, do you have a link to the steering heim that you used, and also that dampener joint? I have to do the steering on my car soon.

Looks like a early Toyota pickup steering box.

That's not a Vega steering box. I have had a few Chevy Monza's and I have 1 with manual steering and the Vega/Monza box dosen't have a sector shaft anywhere near that long.

It ended up being a Toyota steering box. The person that originally but this car used a Toyota box and a 5 speed Toyota Celica transmission behind the flathead. Lol kind of an odd combo.

@@toddclyne3493 I've heard that there's a toyota steering box I can adapt to my 51 Ford F1 but I haven't looked into it.

That sure looks like you could have gone straight to the box with 2-U-joints and one rod..
@toddclyne34934 жыл бұрын
If that was the case I would have.

WELDING ANY STEERING PARTS, JOINTS .SHAFTS, UJS . IS NOT!!!!!!!!! A GOOD DEAL!!!!!!!!! NEVER WELD SEARING PARTS.

I respect your point but I disagree.

Here we go... Every project has a different circumstance to make it work... unless you get a million dollars to refabricate the whole damn thing.. and redo that last 38 things you did.. keep up the good work on your hot rod man
