I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

Sharpen up the inside of one end on that copper pipe with just a knife so you're left with a sharp edge and you can cut that foam away to exactly the same shape with no burning required in a fraction of the time.

I reckon start the foam cutting with the bottom (least-used) drawer - that way the worst one, i.e. your first try, is less visible and the top (most-used) will be lurvely because you've honed your new-found skills by then.
@MarzNet2562 жыл бұрын
Well done! I like using 1/4 and 3/8 drive (hex and torx) bit sockets and a short ratchet. It's more comfortable and gives a better feel for torque than Allen wrenches (L and Y-3 way shaped). Professional bike mechanic since 1989.
@andrewgillis30733 жыл бұрын
In the old days, this was done by carving out wooden inserts. Foam is way easier. ^_^ One of the advantages of this system is that after using your tools, you can do a quick check to make sure you have them all accounted for. That way you don't leave e a tool behind after off-roading.
@TheSanDiegoSteve Жыл бұрын
Nicely done. I’ve got the same three drawer tool box, but mine looks like your old box. Three times the tools that should be able to fit. I gotta say that little edit of you peeling off the label, and the sound it made was both exciting and satisfying. I would have fu*ked that up for sure, whilst ripping off the last centimeter of sticker. 😂

When I was your age I owned many cheaper tools but as I got older I slowly bought better tools and at 52 have amassed a collection of professional tools that need multiple storage options. My biggest tools like my my race and cup press (diy made) and my bottom bracket thread tapper (a must for reinsertion of threaded BBs!) need their own box! Your solution worked for me for a while but too many tools have I to do that anymore. I am a pro mechanic so my needs are much larger, but where are your cone wrenches?

Just got the craftsman 3 drawer box with tools. I'm going to put handles on the sides. Tough because its double walled with 1/2" gap and not a lot of space between the rails inside. I took a set of heavy handles off a Harbor Freight 26" US General to;p box. Nice handles. The Craftsman box is nice for the money, the set of tools with it is probably a $80 set at best. Its got all 3 size drives, but not to many 12pt 1/2 sockets and tiny wrenches. Other than that, the box allows tons of room to add tools.

my problem is I got way too many tools to have in one box, I got a Park tool blue box, but I always wanted to do Kaizen Foam but never did, but my tool collection increased a lot, still not sure how I want to sort my tools,I think I should do several layers, so I can lift it, out, i saw pro mechanics had it like that, but I see some of them got huge pelican cases, double the size of mine. I dont have room for another box, but I wish I had a proper bench, I use a kitchen table. I think I should get bench drawers, or something similar, to lay the big tools in. like saw, hanger tool, and so on.

Using a system like this to organize your stuff is great indeed. Keeps things organized and you’ll notice when things are forgotten/lost. For more savage applications like heavy industrial work (like I used to do) I’d go for the ABS or PP inlays we used to have. Cleans easy contrary to this. But its noisier. For light duty or cleaner applications I’d go for foam as well.

I've wanted that a long time, but not only is it pricey, I have to order it abroad as well. If I could just pick it up at a local shop, I'd be there in a jiffy, but things like this are just not normal to find in my country. Then I have to pay for shipping, and then 25% VAT and in these days I even have to pay extra toll on top of it all, just because... Anyhow, so far I went for an economical solution I could pick up from a local shop nearby, and those foam mats are made up of lots and lots of tiny sliced cubes you can just rip out to form the shape of the according tool you want to place at that spot. I'll see if this solution will hold up or not, and if it just doesn't last I'll simply bite the bullet.

I reckon a nice Thor brand hammer with replaceable faces would be a great addition, one soft face and one hard face, then you could cut down on having the two hammers currently and free up some more space. BETA sliding t-handle allen keys oh oh flush cut side cutters so no nasty wee sharp bits on zip ties And no toolbox is complete without a homemade tool for a specific job, something like a nipple and shortened sharpened spoke for poking things. I really need to go sort my toolbox out, this was a great video

I should do something like this to my tool box. I used to have a similar box, but found it was annoying to need to lift the lid to open the drawers. So I bought and modified a mechanics 3 drawer "mid" box, adding an MDF top and side handles. There's a barrel lock for the drawers and the simple top means I can stack stuff on top of the box and still access the tools. The big downside of this box is it's flipping heavy. What I'm considering next for my van tools is some sort of tool roll that can be hung up when needed.
