I actually had this exact same idea but never built it. I wanted to use it as an easy way to have a dead air space for my geodesic dome greenhouse. Great work!

Will this work like a terrarium works (for plants) in the winter time to keep the water warm ?

Great idea, i have a 25ft round pool and im considering a similar build, how did it hold up?

Yes- SAME!! I have a 24’ and this is the exact same thing I want to know. During the summer months how did this hold up?

do you think this would be doable with mosquito netting? i want something that sits on top of my 20' railing... for the bugs.
@TheChug6 ай бұрын
Well I guess it could. Not sure how I would mount the netting... but think it is a nice idea.

Looks great, have you considered putting a door on it attached with velcro possibly? I am looking into an alternative to using soldering iron however since there is such a large area to seal it probably is the only option. Another method to attach the poles to the base by sliding them on rather than screwing, maybe your method is better however but modified with a bolt with retaining clip on the other end rather than a nut. Example of slide on method for pole kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJnce4qvjqyqnrs

I like your door idea with velcro. Though, I completely open the dome when the kids want to swim, very quick and easy to do. But if the dome was big enough and have more room in it around the pool, that would be great on chill days. Yeah, I know about the pole slide on method... I did the way I made mine with the hardware I already had on hand and was simpler to make. But I could definitely make a better design cause I find mine not sturdy enough to keep the poles straight, the hinge is twisting badly on one side cause the ground around the pool isn't level... I'll show all this in my next video. Thank you very much for your comment.

@@TheChug thanks for your feedback and good to know about the hinge too. I have the pool on a tarmac drive but its also at an angle so will have to make a hinge with adjustable height. When i make this ill post a video and link to you. 👍

@@TheChug one last question before i begin this project on the weekend 😅 just looking at the critical dimensions 1. The length of the plastic sheet (boat shape) is ok but the width is critical, did you use calculations to determine that. 2. Space between hinges, was that a rough calculation. Thanking you
@TheChug2 жыл бұрын
@@xntricity6446 I used standard circle calculations, well actually I used a website that does it for me hehe. For the sheets width, since my poles length are 25 feet, I just divided by 6 since I got 6 sections. It was a little more than 4 feet for me and it resulted perfectly. Space between hinges is the diameter. In my case circomference is 50 feet, so diameter is 16 feet with a height inside of 8 feet.

@@TheChug super stuff, thanks for the breakdown of measurements, that makes sence. If i got that badly wrong my kids wouldn't be too happy 😅 thanks a mill
