BUILDING A DOWNDURO BIKE!?

I've built two, for me and my daughter. '23 Commencal FRS with Rock Shox Zeb. 190/200 travel, carbon wheels, mine is 32lbs and my daughter's is 28. The geo isn't ideal for pedalling uphill, but both bikes have 12 speed cassettes and weigh less than most enduro bikes making pedalling tolerable.

​@@ottokejser3783 yo if that's the case than I inadvertently and "technically" made one of these "downduro" bikes myself Now when I say technically, I mean my bike is a _VERY_ low end enduro bike (a $750 K2 attack from 2007 that I bought used from the second hand store I work at for $40). It only has 100mm of travel, 26 inch tires and is overall a very small bike (and I am SCHMOL, like I'm sure I stopped growing after 15 years old) But I got it bc I wanted a bike for commuting I did swap out the fork as it had fuck all for dampening (it literally had no dampening built into it) Found some cheapo dual crown air fork on amazon bc honestly I'm broke as shit, and it was lighter then the original coil fork And yeah, that's my story

I have an x01 axs dh. Use the first 7 gears of a sram nx 12s cassette and the back spacer of a gx dh cassette with a 12s sram chain. It doesn’t shift even half as good with a gx dh cassette and you still get the gears.

you did not mention what cassette did you use in the rear? was the traditional DH cassette or the Enduro eagle 12 speed? if so, you should give some hints on how was pedaling uphill

how did you get electric dh shifting?

SRAM DH 7 speed cassettes utilize an 11 speed chain spacing. With this setup, the 12 speed AXS derailleur will continue to shift past the cassettes range making it not really compatible. Unless programmed by sram, Electric DH shifting is not optimal because it’s not meant to work. This is most likely why he swapped to single speed afterwards. I know this because I have also Jerry rigged DH AXS.

Not another stupid buzzword term for a dumb subcategory of bikes. Downcountry, Parkduro, and super enduro are already enough for the useless terms. There are 5 real categories: Cross country/XC, Trail, Enduro, Freeride, Downhill. All Mountain is just a slightly heavier duty subcategory of trail bikes just below enduro, so its just a trail bike in my view. Freeride is distinct from enduro and DH because freeride bikes are oriented towards having fun in the park and doing tricks, while DH and enduro bikes are for racing.
