R2’s droid type is meant to assist you at home needs and repairing. BB’s droid type was made for repairing ships and flying in them. BB is smaller so he can’t have extra arms and stuff, he is also supposed to go faster because his type is supposed to be used to being on a battle field. That is why he is smaller, gives him more of a chance not to get shot

The direction your droid is facing (the side of the head that lights-up) is forward. Then use the forward and back arrows to move forward or backwards. It doesn't go sideways, you have to turn the head and then go forward or backwards. The red, rectangle can be used to turn the head, or the left and right buttons underneath the rectangle. Line-up your red arrows on the base pieces when you connect them and there are two magnets in the head, so when you put the head on top move it around to make sure both sets of magnets connect. LOL, my husband, Dan, is rolling his around right now!

I think that is a great experience to do and well worth the price. It's a lot of fun to actually make the droid as you want. I went with the black and red R2 unit and love it. I had fears about controlling the BB8 so I stayed away from that. I love the look you gave yours. Good choice!

I love your BB Kitra, great combo! I walked in to get a blue BB, and walked out with an R2-D2 with a clear head. Couldn’t help myself. (Part practicality, I needed to run him around on the slick floors at work.) I dressed him up with stickers, silver doors and a purple chip, so he’s a bit less standard, but I still want a blue BB... Gads, they got me, I rly love that place. After much deliberation my daughter got a B&W soccer ball body with a round red head, it’s super cute.

New batteries helped reduce the rocking. Also whichever way Bb’s head points is forward or up arrow. Pressing the left/right side of the large red button will rotate the head. You can put felt dots on the bottom of BB’s head to reduce scratching but it will also slow it down.

I got a BB. Blue case, purple dome head. Yellow Resistance chip. I totally love her! At first, I agreed that I felt stiffed by the lack of stuff to upgrade with. But if you think about it, there's not much to tweak. Anything that you put on the body, WILL get scraped as you play with it. Any stickers will eventually become a problem if it pulls off even a little it might make the head pop off.

Yeah. For the same reasons as Peter, I built an R2 unit at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. The reason why the BB units are hard to control is due to the lightweight plastic which doesn’t weigh down/balance the droid. Hence the swaying. That said, the BB units have the BEST colors to choice from. The R2 units have primary colors. Nothing punchy. I was desperately trying to fit a 3rd color in the assembly. All I could do: See thru head. Red body. Black decals & primary legs. White tripod short leg. I’m sure there’s a better combo out there.

Aye awesome, now you R2 unit has a new friend! Flathead is a cool name btw XD. Whenever I go down there I'm gonna make a R2 unit simply because I grew up on that droid and he's always been my favorite! I'd use a clear Orange head with body being Orange with red legs. And I'd use the black parts to fill in where his tools would while building him. Then get some black decals to put on him and a rebel personality chip. Glad she finally got to build her droid, as always these videos are amazing, keep up the good work!

From what I can tell, as far as control, he needs more space and to be constantly moving. The stop and go is what causes him to sway. Once he gets moving, the head stays where it should, but also remember, it's a ball. It's going to move whichever way.
