Coming along very nicely - the layout is much bigger than it seemed from the original drawings.
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Thank´s. The drawings which I published at the beginning of the project are just for one station area and non of the main line track nor the other station´s I will build. And even those drawings have been completely redone since the video because the area in the garden changed. Thats the reason why it is so much bigger and different than in the drawings...

These are great informative videos - and it looks like a wonderful project. The length of the videos is just right and you explain well what steps you are taking. Many KZbinrs filming their dream constructions make the videos far too long - I like your speeded up sections. It all looks like a lot of very hard work though. It would be good to see a plan of the entire layout - or to go on a tour, perhaps? Congratulations and thanks. Tom (from France).

Hey Tom, nice to hear from you! Glad you like my way of editing the videos. I like to show the whole process but it should not be boring, thats why I use time lapse a lot. It is hard work but in the end I am building my dream garden railroad and I enjoy every bit of it. So motivation is not a problem. At this point in time there is no drawn out plan of my layout but I get this reques a lot so I might do it some day. A tour is a great Idea, I will look into that! Have a good day and see you soon on the next video!

Für die Randbegrünung der Strecke würde ich Polsterphlox verwenden. Ist anspruchslos, wächst sehr dicht und unterdrückt das Unkraut.
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын

@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Thank´s for your comment! I actually get asked a lot about my track plan which doesn´t exist at this point. I have some ideas in mind where I want to go with the railway line. Then I figure out a plan how to get there by laying actual track in the dirt combined with lots of measureing. When the plan is set I start building, thats the process I show in my videos. But since the requests are so frequently about the track plan I might draw a plan in the near future...

I like your tool to curve your flex track. Is it sold especially for your G scale layout or custom built? Magnificent work!
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Hi! The rail bender is built for G scale or 1 scale tracks. It is manufactured by TrainLi out of swizerland. Great product over all, I love it!

From where you brought that railway tracks ?
@darkknighte Жыл бұрын
nice work. it would be great to see a plan of your whole layout. And I'm also interested in your control panel, how you bring the wires in from all the turnout machines, lights, signals, and how many feeders or boosters do you have for your track power. is it divided into several blocks for troubleshooting? I so impressed with how quickly you are building on. And wondering how your track stays in place and level over the winter. Do you have enough drainage with the plastic under neath? Really nice work on the whole thing. Thanks so much for documenting your work it's really helpful to see.
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Hi! I can answer some of your questions. The track stays right in place during the winter. The drainage seems to be sufficient. Heat expansion during hot days has a bigger impact but is also not that big of a deal. How my control panel will look like ... I have no specific plan yet. There are many questionmarks as of today that will resolve gradually by continuing the building process step by step. I will have only one feeder for track power which is capable of 12 A total. But thinking ahead I will install all the wiring needed to put a booster in line.

Thanks so much. I appreciate your help and getting back to me. I'm planning my outdoor railway and because I live in Canada we have hot summers and cold winters. I'm also old enough that I don't want to have to do heavy maintenance every year with track heaving from frost. I'm really enjoying your series. It's going to be a beautiful railway. cheers, John @@summitrailway

Excellent video! I'm curious about the climate in your area. Do you get much freezing in the ground and do you have trouble with frost heaving your track out of the ballast?
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Hi, we do get freezing ranging from -5 quite regularly to -20 °C in some cases. Those cold temperatures are no issue compared to the extreme heat in summer. When it´s hot outside the track moves a lot more and displaces the ballast. But nothing you cant fix within a few minutes...

oh I see your using flex track and that helps shape it, cool little tool, not sure I've seen that before.
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
The tool I am using is a track bender for flex track. It works great, you can bend your track in any radius you like. The end result looks way better than using standard track pieces along with some other advantages!
@CheekyFest Жыл бұрын
What's the tool / device you;re using @ 4'43" ?
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Thats a track bending device manufactured by TrainLI (switzerland). I use it to bend the tracks as I wish. It works great!
@bigturboxr3i Жыл бұрын
Brilliant video as always. I like the real ballast method you use. My garden layout is at waist level on shelves of wood and steel frames i fabricated for curves.
@summitrailway Жыл бұрын
Your approach has some advantages too. No weeds growing, no bending over and you can see your trains at eye level. But as you mentioned, I like to tread the garden railway as a real railway. Real ballast, it runs from point A to point b and so on. It all depends what you like or not...
