I read your response to my comment and I like to use 2-1/2 inch ring shank coil nails for the wall sheathing and 3 inch ring shank nails for the stud framing. I think that ring shank nails hold better than smooth shank nails. I also think people should use ring shank nails for the roof sheathing too.

Pro tip when you're using a hammer drill to set anchors put your anchor up against the hammer drill bit and put a piece of tape so you know how deep to go so you're not going to shallow because you'll never get the anchor out or Too Deep drilling through your concrete.

@TreeborgCNC
@TreeborgCNC 5 жыл бұрын
@venilson Essa e uma garagem. Ventania nao leva nao.

Hi, Curious as to what the height of these 2 X 6 walls are, i.e. are the studs 92 5/8 or 104 5/8? Also, are the headers 2 X 10 (appears there are only double headers for each door / window vs 3. For some reason I thought 3 were needed with 1/2 inch OSB in between?
@kenskarpentry
@kenskarpentry 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. the studs are 92 5/8. I like to use the double headers because we can better insulate. Also 2x10 will more than handle the load over the windows. The garage doors are on a non bearing wall so again more insulation

Pavel, you could also use a pressure treated bottom plate, I would had sunk J-bolts into the concrete prior. But it all works, I am sure Ken followed code.

Thanks for the comment. This particular Gambrel including concrete is around $26,000 My website shows all the standard features. You're right though an idea of the cost being shown in the video would be helpful. Going forward I'll try to do that.

Hi Ken, terrific video! My question is what are the specs on the floor joists? I am interested in a 28' x 32' gambrel. Thanks. Steve
