Oh nifty, I didnt realize you were close enough to Piqua to make the drive. The finished tables look amazing, nicely done.

Great work. Don't you just love the Domino 700 Quick Connector system! So strong... so versatile. Can not imagine life without it in my woodworking.

Great table. Love the walnut. I’m curious why you used the biscuits over dominos for table alignment? Not that it matters. I have both. I only use my biscuit cutter for one purpose though. LOL. I have it set to the setting to cut slots that I use for my z-clips to attach table tops. Just curious what was the reason for biscuits. I also think it’s amazing that you didn’t use the table saw at all. I’ve been getting my MFT and bench set up so that I can eventually not need mine.

Because it’s only for alignment, either is a good choice. But honestly I kinda just wanted to use the lamello as a biscuit joiner because I bought the blade for it when I got the lamello but hadn’t used it yet. Also, with really long heavy boards I find it easiest to join the two pieces with biscuits over dominos because the dominoes can be really tight and more difficult to align when you have many.

Math. Price for board foot. Multiply by the crazy amount of boards he has there. Guessing a few thousand. Especially high because he got wider boards and they are very clear. Considering walnut is in demand making the price very high. Napkin math. 14x5x1.5 because he said 14 by 5 feet and 1.5 inches thick. 105 board feet after waste. Few inches in n every board adds up… let’s go with 40. 145 board feet. Walnut can be very different price and 12 foot by 12 inch 8/4 boards are guessing $17 board foot. $2500 to $5000. That is napkin math. Could be wildly different. It’s a lumber place making a kick ass table.

Are you able to get glue ready edges from the track saw or did they require some more work that was edited out? I can’t justify the cost of a large jointer but the track saw I could use for a lot of things and have considered this as an alternative.

Really cool project the festool stuff is really nice for those big tables, the project looked easier than doing a slab table for some reason, I guess just using straight boards helps the process go better. Nice job.

6:30 Do you think chamfering those holes for the inserts is a better idea due to the fibers separating? Or would it just be extra work that doesn't truly add much benefit?

That’s beautiful wood and you did a great job. I only have one question as a fellow woodworker. With the tones of the boards varying did you consider using something like a walnut Rubio finish to help even them up?

This is the first and only guy I have unsubscribed from. I asked a basic question about any products I could use to avoid water rings in finishing and I got back a 1 word response to my question which was coasters. You wanna be a smart ass, no problem, unsubscribed. If you can’t answer why and help educate, then don’t take the time to leave a demeaning answer. Your personality is writing checks your work can’t cash.

@AaronGeller Жыл бұрын
Biscuits work just as well as dominos in this application and are cheaper. Plus, Jason has the Lamello which can do biscuits.
@kevinwillingham172 Жыл бұрын
@@AaronGeller Dominos is just dominos and nothing special. Biscuits are more universal. You can put gravy on them, use them as a crust, make a nice breakfast sandwich…wait…what were we talking about? 🫠
