Has this design proven to be goat-proof in your operation?

It has! We have had the occasional kid get in, but they've never been there looking for food just playing around and found the opening. I try not to spill any dog food and pick it up when I do, try not to give the goats an opportunity to get a taste for the dog food. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Have you had any goat kids since building this? Just curious how they would do with it. I know Greg Judy runs sheep and sheep are much less curious. I’d imagine goat kids would find a way in.

We have not. We should be having some in February so we'll see how that goes. I have my concerns as well, if it becomes a problem we'll hand feed the dogs until the kids are either weaned or big enough they have trouble with it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Which type panel did you use, cattle, hog, or sheep?

I used what they would probably call a cattle panel, the vertical wires are 6 inches apart and the horizontal wires got closer together toward the bottom. The bottom couple of wires were probably around 2-3 inches apart. I would think you could use any of those panels, the only one I would avoid would be the utility panels that have 6x6 squares all the way down to the ground. If you have small goats, hog panels would be ideal, these panels are a little tall and filling the dog feeder can be a little cumbersome, I may cut a few squares out to make it easier. Otherwise I've been very happy with it! Thanks for the comment!

Yes, very! Every ounce of food the dogs have eaten have been out of that feeder with no modifications! And they are much bigger now! Thanks for the comment

Update? How many hours has ot taken the goats to get in?

3 months in and I've never seen any of the goats get in or any evidence that they have. I'm really happy with how it has worked. Thanks for watching!

I have a similarly constructed feeder - took my 2 Nigerian dwarf goats (that stay in the sheep pasture) about 2 days to get into it -- then about a month before they caught the feeder open enough to now know it was a source of kibble. I 1st noticed the feed going much faster, then caught them eating. Now can't keep them out so had to pull them out of the sheep area. The sheep rub on sides but never go inside.

@@kylemac73 yep, our goats are all Boers so they're pretty big. They could probably get in if they tried, but they don't put forth the effort. I also try to make sure I clean up any spilled dog food or move the feeder so they don't associate food being inside. So far so good, no goats in the feeder! Thanks for watching and commenting!

What breed are you LGD's?

Hey Garrett, they are muts, they have a lot of Great Pyrenees in them and they came from working parents but we don't really know what all is in them. We got them from my cousin who also has goats and his LGD's bred on accident. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

I just use gates that have a good 10 inch opening about 24 inches high, dogs climb through but sheep can't.
