I would like to put some menuki, fuchi, and Kashira. But the tsuba looks ok but it just to big for me. Also, next make a saya (scabbard) too.

I love the spirit of experimentation and learning, love the acknowledgement of the process and what went wrong, and in the end it was a beautiful hilt design

Thank you :)

It's really cool seeing you breathe new life into something well-loved! I had my doubts from the sketch, but I like the end result a lot.

Thank you :D I had some of my own doubts during the build but sometimes you've just got to trust the process and hope it ends up cool in the end.

Beautiful work. The gold definitely gave it that extra finishing touch. Nicely done. Maybe next project could be a poker thing that you can push wood closer to the saw versus your fingers! Papa has a shape he uses you could ask him about and then make yours up all fancy…and keep your fingers!
@IsaacJukesАй бұрын
Yeah 😅I've thought about making a push stick a few times, It's a good idea.

Wow nice job! And excellent video documenting the process.

It is cool to watch wood be shaped into flowyness. Well done! Can you make a coffee table for me? Perhaps it could have a secret compartment for a sword...and some chocolate..
@IsaacJukesАй бұрын
It can probably have a chocolate compartment :D

I enjoy various mediums like this too. I do find it unusual for a katana to have a wide thin tsuba( handguard are normally ~5mm thick by ~ 3" wide) and the tsuka (handle) to not follow the curve of the blade. I wish I had the time and patience to do that much work on my katana. So far I just swapped hardware, applied rayskin and lacing.

building with multiple mediums is a fun process, it certainly was a lot of work but I enjoy that, makes it more satisfying once it's done and gives me a story to tell people. Sounds like you know a lot about Katanas, I'm definitely not an expert that's for sure, I just think swords in general are cool. :)

You should've added a Kashira and maybe a habaki. The pattern itself is awesome.

I agree now looking back.

That table saw cut was pure stress, even knowing it was a recording so nothing likely went wrong

For me it's ugly, I don't like it because it's not my taste, but the creation process itself is great

To each their own, I'm glad you enjoyed the build process though! :D
