I never put this video out.. but a good friend of ours, Greg Lee, who I worked with closely on this project doing the post and beam work, layout and more, has passed away. He was an amazing carpenter, a great person to work with and always had a smile on his face and something funny to say. He taught me a lot about building in the time that I worked with him and I'll forever be thankful for the times he slowed down to show me things.

Mateo Pega Palos. Sorry for your loss it’s very hard to lose a friend, although he’ll forever be in your heart and mind. Also the skinny guy with all the tattoos I haven’t seen him for a while in your videos. I use that line on my friends too “ if I died tomorrow would you come to my funeral”. I tell them I picked it up from my friend he does you tube vids. Be safe out there.

No way! Really sorry to hear about your loss! Just when you don’t think stuff like that won’t happen for a while and the world had a different plan! I remember this video series very well actually! If I’m not mistaken you or the owners made a change in the while height somewhere and you had to redo it. Could be wrong?

Very nice tribute brother .Many of us older carpenters love passing our knowledge on . Don't know how many houses where I'd stop and draw all over the Tyvex like a blackboard . Loved showing what I learned in my 43 years swinging a hammer . Carpentry was my love . Can't do it anymore with stage 4 cancer . But the memories have kept me kick'n and loving the youth . . RIP Greg

Did you guys notch all the beams and rafters were the car decking went? Is that how the roof sheathing plywood lay flat over it all?

The lower sections with tongue and groove overhangs was a 2x6 T&G, but the beams were 1-1/2” shorter than the rafters… so when you put T&G on, it was the same height as trusses / rafters. Sheathing went direct over that.
