Any thoughts on a way to use the 56v Ego batteries. I have so many laying around that need purpose!
@SuperchargedPlaytime

I’m gonna look into this! I don’t have any, but first thought is it should work with the speed controller still. You would just need a different battery to controller connection setup. DEFINITELY upgrade your motors to 24v, but even still you may need to set the max power to 80% to avoid frying your parts.

Nice idea. I just wonder can you make circuit diagram please so it will easy to assamble like you did.

The wiring is fairly straight forward. Are you planning on using the same vehicle and parts? In text, the wiring is as such: 40V batter goes straight into the speed controller. Speed controller ties directly into the original wiring that goes through the shifter system. I zip-tied the original pedal to be closed, then tucked it away to open the circuit at all times. I installed my new, variable pedal and ran those wires back to the speed controller. Let me know if you have specific questions and I can try to assist!

@@SuperchargedPlaytime So, zip tie the original pedal to its fully depressed position and leave its wires connected to wherever they lead to. Tuck it away for good. Then the variable pedal connects to where on the speed controller? Is there an actual input that we connect the two wires to?

Thanks for this video. I just ordered a 24v 4x200watt car for my kid. Coincidentally I also ordered the Ryobi 40v battery and that same adapter you have. I also have an adjustable controller with a digital read-out that goes from 10-55v with 60A max. QUESTION: If I hook all this up what volts should I dial into the controller to supply this new 40v battery power to these 200 watt motors? Can I ever turn it up to 40v or will that damage the motors? Thanks.

Awesome to hear! I have found with the 24v motor setup we can push a full 40v. Now if you don’t have the same controller I am using, it is important to keep their top voltage in mind. Stopping/going will create a huge voltage spike that can fry the controller. Conservative may be 36v. But it all comes down to the motors and controllers. 12v motors I’ve pushed (the Batmobile) 36v.

I just reread and saw your 55v max. That is a major limitation, I’d max out at 32v.

Should I return it and get a 70v max controller?

Also. If I get the variable throttle pedal do I just cut the wire(s) on the stock pedal and connect to the new pedal wire(s)?

Ya, with 40v I would recommend 70.

So I found that they have a 40v battery adapter with a step-down wired right from the adapter plate .. would this be a good idea . And where could I find a wiring diagram for this set up ?
@SuperchargedPlaytime
@SuperchargedPlaytime 4 ай бұрын
Can you share the link? For me, I just basically go from 40v into the speed controller, and then from the speed controller go straight into the original power-wheel system from where the battery normally fed into. If you share your part I may be able to proved insight.

This is fantastic. Thank you! Where do you use the gearbox assembly that is listed? I didn't recall it mentioned in your video.
@SuperchargedPlaytime

I replaced the stock gearbox and motor. The stock was 12v, that new gearbox comes with a 24v. This is where all the torque comes from. It is only a little faster than the stock with higher voltage, but it has so much power it doesn’t slow down.

@@SuperchargedPlaytime Thank you! I haven't taken it apart yet, but would I need two 24v gearboxes or just one. I didn't know if there was only one for the rear axle, or one per rear wheel. Thank you!

so if I understand your right.... you feel the torque upgrade comes from using a PWM? Mine wont haul kids.... it will haul medical equipment and tools (its remote control also- and that is primary way will be used) and will be in a ruff terrain environment (nothings paved)
@SuperchargedPlaytime
@SuperchargedPlaytime Ай бұрын
The torque upgrade comes from the 40v, AND I upgraded my motors/gearboxes to a 24v model. It can drive with me at 185 lbs. The PWM makes sure it doesn’t burn out, it has a softer start/stop so you avoid voltage spikes. The PWM also gives you the option of a variable speed pedal.

Did you bypass the reversing gear shift switch or jumper the old gas pedal?
@SuperchargedPlaytime
@SuperchargedPlaytime 4 ай бұрын
I fed it directly into the system before the stock pedal and gear shifter. I used a zip tie to close the stock pedal’s switch to leave that circuit in tact. Then I installed my new variable speed pedal.

The parts are in the description, all mods together are around $100. It comes down to what you want to add. Not everything is needed (though I recommend doing all as it is a superior vehicle).

This is awesome man. Glad I found your video. About to buy one of these for my son's 3rd bday and mod it. Any other mods you want to do to this thing for performance? Did you ever look into a brake pedal?
@SuperchargedPlaytime
@SuperchargedPlaytime 6 ай бұрын
@@MarkSims88 so glad to hear that! This has been my son’s favorite toy for a loooong time! Mods, depends on the end desire, what I love about this one is how robust it is. I previously made it faster, but things would fry out. Now it is a beast. Brake pedal - with this exact setup I’d say it is unnecessary as the resistance in the gearbox slows it down quickly. However, I did a build before this show and I tricked out a friend’s power wheel and I installed a proximity sensor as a throttle kill switch to ensure the kids couldn’t hit an object. The Batmobile build is really quick and doesn’t slow down as well. You am have me in ponder mode 🤔

So if I do this for a 24v would I only change the step down?

If you already have a 24v system the 40V battery and the PWM speed controller would go straight in.

@@SuperchargedPlaytime would I not need a step down to keep my engine from burning up?
@SuperchargedPlaytime
@SuperchargedPlaytime 2 ай бұрын
If you have a 12V motor, upgrading to the 40V will most likely burn it up. I have found with the 24V motor it handles the 40V just fine.

It seems to me that you could have easily put another 40 volt receptacle on the other side, and had two batteries in parallel. This would have allowed for twice the runtime, and also allowed you to take out one and charge it independently, if necessary. You could have three batteries & always have one in the charger. I know they are a bit expensive, especially compared to the 18 volt packs, though. I personally have four 18V packs, and I have a dual charger. I have two in the vehicle, and I step the system down to 12V, and I run it basically stock, which gives good run time.

I've found that the 1 40V is incredibly sufficient for battery life, even after long drives it is always 1/2 full. With the 18V I've had 2 different batteries die, they still work for my tools, but no longer can be the power supply to the car. Going forward I think I will use 40V always. I still want to build a car that will be even faster, considering making a 4wd system.

@@SuperchargedPlaytime I have been using 7Ah packs, which I can get for 2 for $50. For the price, they have been working fine for me. I have a 6v Countryman, that I am running at 12v, via a step down converter. I can run it with either one or two batteries. When finished, it will be an Arduino controlled robot, so it's running unloaded. For 4WD, there are some pretty good non PowerWheels generic vehicles. One that I've had my eye on, is a six wheeled UTV that has an electric dump bed on it. I am trying to work on a differential program, that will allow the wheels to turn at different speeds, to give a 4WD program a bit better performance. This should reduce some understeer.
