Those rocks and the grass really make a difference, all coming together now.

Lovely to see your enthusiasm for TT, it’s an inspiration for new modellers. Personally, I use a Dulux matt emulsion which is a greeny brown colour resembling green mud which can be overlaid with any grass or soil scatter

Watching this coming sideways from the wargaming hobby is fascinating. To me, what you did there is a series of black and grey shade washes followed by a white dry brush but I don't suspect that jargon is used by a lot of train hobbyists.

Looking great Simon. I was going to ask about tunnel entrance faces. But you mentioned it at the end. That bit where you were applying washes to create your rock outcrops. I can highly recommend a set of Florymodels clay washes. I think there are 8 colours in the set. Or you can buy individual bottles. Its clay based, so if you put too much on, you can wipe it off again with a damp paper towel. Also Ammo Mig do some good texture paints. Such as mud, earth and concrete paints. They do some railway paint sets too. Jadlamracingmodels is a good place to buy from. Free shipping and a good reward scheme. Its coming along nicely now. Looking forward to seeing more of the layout develop.

Nice work Simon, those rocks have turned out so well, I watch Marklin of Sweden, Martin, I think his name is, he has some very good techniques! The static grass looks good too and your applicator works very well. It’s something else on my list, I’ll probably get one from WWS. Cheers for now mate, John

Simon not being pedantic mate, why didn't you make some washes using acrylics and flow improver (hobby craft) and water that's how I did mine, really nice work though mate

You can make your own rock moulds very easily. Get a big block of plastacine/playdo, etc, and then simply get some small rocks and make an impression in the plastacine. Then fill with plaster as normal. There are loads of videos on KZbin of how to do this.
