Man, you guys are terrific. It plain old wears me out to watch you. I am sure, when this wonderful home is finished, you will enjoy it for years with pride, and sit back and say 'remember this', remember that'. What wonderful memories you will have together.

Most impressive, to me, is your ability to keep your sense of humor or at least an even temperament. Thank you for taking the time to record all of your accomplishments AND your disasters. It makes this so VERY educational on MULTIPLE LEVELS! GREAT JOB!

As time goes on I'm enjoying your videos more. I like that you're showing more time lapse of the work. Keep up the good work and ignore the KZbin "experts"! It's beyond me why anyone would think a KZbin creator would take advice from an angry subscriber.

We have always found it handy when ordering concrete to have a small area for a shed or pump to be formed up as well for any leftover concrete. That way there is no wastage. Love you guys. I am exhausted just watching your videos each day. Love from us in Australia.

The end of the measuring tape IS precise. That tiny bit of slop on the metal clip, is to allow for the thickness of the clip. If you're pulling on it, it will be the same distance as if you're pushing on it.

Perhaps this will be a little late but good to have an "excess concrete" pour form. We used to quickly nail up 2x4 or 2x6 into a ladder looking stepping stone form. You paid for it be sure you can use all that you buy. And step stones/ blocks can always be used on a homestead.

Hello my wife and I are very new to this channel , like a month.( trying to catch up) I have one question, but first It is refreshing to see two very likable people doing admirable, very tough work together creatively , while teaching others A, how not to be afraid of hard work.B, read do your homework, volunteer to go to construction sites learn. I've seen people try this and it's so easy for them to just put down shovels and say ok the excavating and foundation o hell we can afford to have it done in three days ( professionally) then we'll jump back in for the framing and it becomes a pattern then they are in there house in 90-120 days. And they tell everyone, "yeah it was tough" but we conquered it. So my hats off. Everyday my wife and I lie down, turn on KZbin and just hope you guys have posted something new. Ok question time, we live in Georgia where footings have to be inspected before the pour which I assume they do there as well! I think your in Utah, or Washington like I said we are really new. So after you leveled out the area for the foot print of your home, you went bought nice lumber framed out your footings and piers lined with rebar. Nice nice work. I know every state has different rules for every part of construction. When we built our home 62'6" x 38'0" our lot had to be excavated, but when it was pretty much level, and we were about to start framing the footings the inspector said great job on the excavation now it's time to dig !!! Dumbfounded we said dig? He said yes now you dig your footings down 16" wide X 18" deep along with the rebar plan our architect/engineer had planned out. So I was just curious how living in a climate that gets feet, and feet of snow how they let you pour concrete on top of you excavation surrounded by 2x10's which will be coming off instead of digging down just where the footings will be surrounded by natural packed earth which will always be there. We love what your doing we root for you guys I hope this didn't sound mean. It really was a " just wondering " question. Sorry for the long comment, it will not happen again, only great jobs from now on!!! Great Job...!!!

Something else I think I should mention, now is a good time to lay out any Plumbing and Electrical that might be under Floor, places like where there might be a Pipe that needs to be taken from the Center of the House to outside the Footer such as Sewer Drains, You can run PVC sleeves easier now than drill Concrete later, also I mentioned Electrical, If there are any Sub-Panels or Branch Circuits like Runs for Laundry Room and such, You can lay those out and if required, add some sleeves, in some cases under the Footer now, better than trying to dig them out later, just a few things for You too think about, like You don't have enough already, right? I'll leave You with those thoughts..Thanks again for the Great Videos! :D
@eBikercoyote7 жыл бұрын
Looks great!! I have a suggestion for you though, when ever you have a truck bringing concrete always order extra.. Then i always have somewhere near the spot the trucks will wash out. And on the ground form up some 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 squares to be used as walkway stones at a later date . That way you never run short, and never waist the extra..
@imanoleonardo69027 жыл бұрын
Don't you have to spray your form before you put rebar in so the concrete will adhere to the rebar?

I'm not a concrete person, I have seen some contractors use hog ring pliers and large hog rings to secure the rebar together. Easy to use and fast. much faster than wiring.

Just a heads up for anybody that watches these videos, they poured concrete on Aug. 1st however this video was uploaded on Aug. 12th meaning the pour has already happened and a lot of progress has been made. If you head over to their Facebook page you’ll see just how far behind these videos are from the actual progress.

I've been really confused until just now... So the footing will have the 4 foot frost wall atop it, then backfilled inside and out and the slab poured after the infill?
