I was going for a deeply textured look and have numerous experiments, the wire wheel on its side was the most promising. In the end... well, the results were mixed. Overall I'd say it does look nice when it's completed but I can certainly see some problem areas.

@@granworks next time try brushing all the surface with iron whool. 😉

Yep, I tried that. As with most of my experiments, it was too subtle a look. I wanted dramatic grooves that would play with the light and shadows and that requires something very aggressive.

@@granworks iron wool comes in différents sizes, but if you want something more brutal can also try iron brush. Or both for an "aged" apparency.
