Building a Kiteboard - Part 3

In this third video we are back in the TotalBoat Workshop with Dan who has shown us in the 2 videos prior, how to create the form and camber for a "home made" wake or kiteboard. In Part 3, he gets into laminating the board with Carbon Fiber and TotalBoat 5:1 Epoxy, and he goes into detail about how to best vacuum bag an odd shaped form such as this board by making an envelope. Dan shows us how he inserted mounting hardware for the bindings, and how to deal with set screws which could easily be buried and lost in the layup process. Thanks for the vids. Really good and informative. On the boards I built, I put the Tee nut in with the "Tee" on the bottom of the board. I cut a 1/8" length from threaded SS and then screwed it in the bottom and glued it. That way the screw will stop if it hits the bottom. I also used release wax inside the top of the Tee nut like you. The set screw that you used is a great idea. Also, have you tried using the "poured rails" method? I really like that method. I used flexible epoxy for the poured rails and added lengths of fiberglass cloth for strength. Pour rails are the way to go in my opinion. Seems like you should mention that the bottom layer should be added before the top layer is fully cured so that there will be a chemical bond. If the top layer is fully cured, then shouldn't there be some prep work to ensure the mechanical bond is reliable?
