Both blue tiles look very nice, I think a combination of both looks the best. Mainly use the darker ones, and then use the light blue ones for pointing out the direction the rivers flows.

Looks great so far! You should add some white tiles near the edges of the river ti act like foam. I think it'd look pretty neat.
