Welcome to Part 1 of my new series about my new LEGO Super Yacht! In this video I will go over the entire project with a digital tour! You will get to see all the design features this model has to offer!
The ship itself will consist of over 41,000 parts. It is mini-fig scale and has a full interior. As usual - the ship can be split up into several different modules so every part of the ship can be accessed.
It's safe to say that the design phase of this mega project is pretty much over - and now it's time to start sourcing parts and creating the instructions! So I figured now is a good time to start this series - as I want to document the entire process of building this thing from start to finish! Enjoy!

Do YOU want to build one of my models? Well good news! - I have instructions for all my Lego models available for purchase and you can find them online on ReBrickable: rebrickable.co...

Very nice. My comments as a ship designer: Good job separating crew and guest areas. The tender garage normally extends the whole beam of the vessel with hull doors port and stbd. Most owners want their cabin to have panaramic window & views, so either forward or aft facing. All guest cabins should have windows. Generators and main switchboards are missing. The hull depth and underwater part (draught) is too little. Many other details, let me know if you’re interested to discuss further… Hard top = bonnet Radar domes = satellite receivers Antenna tower = main mast Exhaust ports = funnels Spinning radar = navigation radar Signal lights = navigation lights Hallway = corridor Stairs = companionway Centre keel = aft skeg
@mrjbuilds
@mrjbuilds 4 күн бұрын
Hey there thanks for your input. I appreciate it as I have lots to learn. Naturally I did take a few liberties - it is Lego after all. I would point out a few things. The tender garage I purposely did one side to have an entertainment area on the other (Which also has an opening bay door - something I've seen on several yachts) - I did consider doing a full beam owners cabin but it messed up the flow of the ship in terms of access. All the guest cabins, and crew cabins for that matter DO have windows. In the engine area - I added to items that I designed to represent generators - also switch/control board behind the seats in the control room. Again these proportions and accuracy are not perfect by any means. I've come to far to change most of it now and if you think this one has inaccuracies - you should see my previous mega yacht - FAR more inaccurate. HAHA. As for the draught - I did reference TONS of different 3D models and tried to get this as close as I could. I also appreciate you clarifying a bunch of the terminology which I will try to remember to use moving forward. No promises!

What a fantastic ship! The proportions, the flow. Just amazing. I am in search of a minifig-scale yacht, but I think, this one is too massive. More than 40,000 bricks, phew. I have a castle with ~ 22,000 bricks in the basement, unfortunately, 'cause no place for it elsewhere. And that is huge and heavy... and expencive... I definately will follow this project. Maybe you'll start a smaller (~5 guest) yacht in minifig-scale sometime in the future, with similar 1:6 ratio and similar elegant flow. Now I am dreaming. Keep up the great work and also, lotsa greetings from Germany.

Thanks a ton - and that castle sounds like a sweet build. You'll be happy to know I have several other yachts - all of varying sizes from 1,600 parts up to 16,000 parts - and now this new Mega yacht I am working on. Man, I LOVE your design. Not only did you manage to achieve a very realistic yacht design, you also did a great work on details an incorporation of actual yacht building rules such as seperate crew areas placement of VIP cabins, execssive availability of bathrooms and so on. However I want to point out two areas that may be improved just a little bit. One is the extra entertainment space on level one by the guest cabins. In real live this space would most likely be used for another cabin, as you do not want to have guests socializing in an area like that. The idea of an afterparty area is great but would need extra crew attention bunkering etc. And then there is the master cabin... I love what you did there and I get the idea, but I belive that this is not a realistic design. Mega Yachts want to utilize a dedicated space for master cabins. This usually is either a full beam level one cabin with fully seperated acces or - in layouts like yours - almost always a seperate level. Your design screams for a level 4 master cabin fully seperated from everything else in the ship. All Sky lounge ameneties can easily be moved to level 3. This would not only bring the benefit of more owner privacy but also make the bridge level a better utilized space for entertainment. But that is just my opionion. Great work. Seriously considering buying those instructions once available!
@mrjbuilds
@mrjbuilds 2 күн бұрын
I appreciate your input. There was another commenter who made similar suggestions (That the tender garage should just be full beam). And also the Masters cabin should be full beam. Moving it to the top Would be doable. I may make these changes (At least with the masters cabin as I haven't made the instructions or ordered parts for this area yet. Not sure about the deck 1 entertainment space change though (As I already made the instructions and ordered parts. Although converting it to a full beam Tender Garage would be rather easy. Hmmm decisions Decisions.
@sebastiansteinbach7912
@sebastiansteinbach7912 Күн бұрын
@ i would disagree with the tender garage. Your utilization of space is awesome, the amount of tenders is sufficient for the yachts size. Positioning of the Tender garage varies very much from yacht to yacht. I really think the only true flaw - if you can even call it that - is the master as it divides two entertainment spaces with a private space. The level 1 bar is also highly unlikely but in the end it is some kind of new thinking. That space can be easily trasformed later - may it be a sitting area without bar or even a stateroom. Lookin forward to your instructions. I can really see that thing sitting in my office ☺️
@mrjbuilds
@mrjbuilds Күн бұрын
@ Haha you've convinced me to leave that entertainment space as is and keep the tender garage to the one side. As for the master cabin - I'm already reworking - it will now be on the top deck and be full beam and more luxurious. Where the master cabin WAS will now be two more regular cabins (potentially)

I hope there is anchor with proper chain locker and windlasses, if there ia sleeping quarters at the bow its usually for crews because of the noise from the anchor operations, im guessing if this were real, its about 70 metres, you need at lesst 10 crews, at the end of the day, its lego, to get the outside work with the interior its already amazing, great detail

@@mrjbuilds i am impressed with the whole design... if i had to pick one element over other large scale yachts that have been detailed online its the fact you opted for a modern straight vertical bow.. other designs with compound curve details just dont look right... all the staggered brick steps in the lego to create the curves give them a 'clunky' feel... this looks fantastic. cant wait for the list so i can start buying bricks. 41000 pieces is going to take some time to amass..

Your red and green navigation lights should not be all-around lights. You should only see the red light from forward to 90 degrees back, pointing left, and the green (starboard) light also from forward to 90 degrees to the right. And then you have your white transom light that covers from mid-ship aft in a 180 degree radius. All three combined make 360 of light, with the green and red forward and the white aft. This helps identify at night or in low visibility which direction the ship is going.
