For the sauna, i'd put it on a deck or you'll only ever use it in the summer when it's nice. And put the deck a proper amount off the ground with some steps up or it'll last about 5 minutes. The gravel isn't a good idea, you'll track it into the sauna interior and as where you live is wet a lot of the time, the gravel is going to collect moisture and leaves etc. And that's a bloody good deal on the containers, take the lot. I've just moved three 20' foot containers around on my property and i did two concrete strip footings 500mm wide and sat them next to each other. Containers support themselves through just the corners so to save money, you can literally put piers in that the corners sit on if you want. Cheap as chips, you can pour them yourself and all you need to do is get the piers the right distance apart and level with each other. Then, and trust me on this, pay the money for a guy with a 20 tonne Franna crane for a couple of hours to pick them up from where you drop them initially and set them accurately on the piers. They have all the rigging, all the know how and can drive your container to wherever you need it. You will save yourself a massive amount of messing about and time if you do it this way. And your containers will last a good long time. They need air flow under them, mine are testament to what happens to them when that isn't the case (rusted out floors and bottoms of the sides). I picked 3 from various places on my 4 acres and set them in a line next to each other in less than two hours.

I think the gravel is the best choice with some nice stepping stones for a walking path, with a couple of planters with plants on each side of the pathway greeting you into the sauna. Wood structures take a lot of maintenance, with having to stain or oil wood every year to keep it looking nice, and to repel moisture. You have a lot of rain there. I live in the desert in the U.S.A., and we get about 10" over the course of a year. We have wood decks, but I wish they were made of a composite material, as the sun is very strong here and it does a lot of damage to wood if it's not properly maintained. Good luck with your projects. I enjoy your videos each week.

For wax oiling in cold conditions try immersing your cans and filled sprayer in an insulated bucket of hot water, the viscosity will go down and it will spray much better. A hair dryer or a carefully applied hot air gun will warm up box sections nicely too. You need to be all ready to go the moment you remove the sprayer from the water and go fast before it cools off again.

Not being used to taking saunas, I may not be the best person to ask, but most people wear light footwear I would imagine. So, something friendly to the feet might be the best option. yeah something half and half, gravel under sauna and a small timber deck for feet/shoes/items at the front. oh exciting to be able to get the containers like that

Does all the unforeseen work ever begin to get you down? I have watched your channel from the start and the amount of work you both have put into this project is absolutely endless!! Good luck to you both, and Maggie. xxx

My opinion on the sauna base. Go for the decking rather than gravel. I'm thinking of the clients, I would prefer to step out onto wooden slats rather than gravel.

These Tiny Build looks nice. As for the Sauna, i prefer Gravel (with Geotex under or Plastictarp, because of Roots, Grass, etc) with some flat Stone above for walking. Nice Oportunity with the Containers. A bit new Colour oder later a Cladding o9n it, and it will look very nice on your land. Greetings from Germany, Matthias

If I had to choose out the decking it would be gravel. Wood gets slippery when wet & would rot quicker. Gravel you would need foot wear. I personally would go for slabs or concrete myself

Did you know mice get in underneath this sheet, where you have air running through at the bottom of house. Use some steel mesh underneath so air can move but mice cant get behind the wall. Mice can make a lot of problems for the house.

Hi ya, I have gravel in my garden and the biggest mistake I made was buying shingle, if you go for stones make sure they are rounded stone because walking on sharp stone is not nice, the wood looks good also but the maintenance is more. Love the channel!

Thanks for the tip Sophia. I think we might do some foot friendly walking pavers in-between the gravel for people to use to save their feet 😂

@ nice!! 👌 The issue is when the odd sharp stone ends on the pathway and I stand on it, like Lego X 100 Lol
