Love the idea. I moved into a condo and no longer can have my outdoor pond so this is a cool idea. Why did you choose artificial plants instead of going with pothos or something that'd help clean the water and grow?

Thank you! I went with artificial plants right now due to limited time and wanting to keep costs low. I agree that it is a good idea though and likely may add them in the future.

NOOOOOOO! Do NOT put substrate in there with any of the koi or goldfish types! They can eat it and it will cause compacting in their stomachs which will kill them. Never use heaters for koi!

I have kept Koi and goldfish in a large natural pond on my ranch and it has a lot of areas of natural gravel and small rocks and never had an issue. Don't think I've lost any fish in years and they breed and raise loads of fry, to adulthood. Don't know where you heard this but I don't think it's true at all.

I have a farm pond an acre never had a problem killing my koi koi is just a fancy carp so you just feed them in winter they stay out with freezing weather in Michigan some are 4 years old now and are 20 inches .I DONT HAVE GAME FISH WITH THEM SO THEY ARE HAPPY .GOT A HUGE 20 plus snapping turtle this year think he ate some of the small one .please anyone don’t put goldfish or Koi and small aquariums. Nothing under 30 gallons please is not suitable for a small aquarium. I don’t think it’s suitable for 30 gallon. For koi. be careful when adding a very large pond to floors .making sure it’s a bearing wall to support the weight enjoy have fun
