Welcome to our second "season" of Oxygen Not Included (ONI).
In this episode we finally got the refinery set up and added in some additional water storage. We also upgraded all of our wiring as a result of refinery work. We began out power spine and killed off all of that pesky slime lung so we could expand the drecko ranch!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ONI is a colony management simulator where you try to make an asteroid warm and cozy and homely. While fighting against the elements. A truly ultimate challenge to make your colony the most sustainable and functional as possible.
Oxygen somewhat included.

Love the content. You are doing great in your colony! - The term you are looking for those reservoirs full of water is "Thermal Mass". Same thing as the big pool of hot water from the steam vent. Just a bunch of stuff that has a temperature that will take a long time to change. - Because you are only consuming a very small amount of water right now, that brine line will continue to flow slowly, so just about everything coming out of the steam room will be 70c. That will be a real problem. Once you hook up the refinery, I'd suggest snipping the pipes going through the steam room. (Assuming you have a reservoir before the desalinator). - The piping you made for your refinery will fail. Since you are dragging a pipe of brine across the output of the refinery... The refinery will never be allowed to output any liquid. (Bridge Rules... Actually Port rules.) a) When a pipe is dragged across a white port, the white port will take as much liquid from the pipe as possible. Only when the white port can not take any more liquid is anything allowed to flow past it. b) When a pipe is dragged across a green port, the green port will only allow liquid to exit if there are empty packets in the pipe... a space for the liquid to fit into. c) A bridge output WILL merge packets of same type liquid if < 10kg. Any output from a machine will NOT merge packets. If you drag a pipe across the outputs of 2 steam turbines, even though they each only output 2kg/sec of water, the 2nd turbine will always have its pipe blocked because the water from the 1st is flowing past it. Always T the outputs from machines / buildings. Toilets, desalinators, water sieves, refineries... everything that has an output... Unless you have a plan and intend for it to be blocked. How I would suggest piping it... one option anyway. Drag a pipe across the input of the refinery. Keep that pipe going to the right. Take the output of the refinery send it to a reservoir (So you have a buffer to hold refinery water), then take the output of that reservoir and run it on to the rest of your base. The overflow... the line that went past the input, bridge it onto the line headed to the base after the reservoir. This setup will prioritize the refinery. It will get as much water as it needs (since the input line is dragged across it), and the output from the refinery will be prioritized. It has the straight pipe. the overflow is bridging onto, so everything from the overflow will wait until the refinery is empty. There are a bunch of options how to pipe it depending on the temp of the water you want, and how frequently you want to use the refinery. I think the method I mentioned 2 videos ago was a little different from this. You could also just split and then merge the line before and after the refinery with no bridges. - I would suggest setting up another liquid reservoir before the desalinator so that all the liquids ( from the refinery and any that bypassed) will share temperature before they are desalinated so no cold blobs. - The temp of the output water from a refinery depends on what metal was refined. Gold generates very little heat. Steel generates a LOT of heat. If you look at the Metal Refinery entry on the Wiki it has a nice list. Aluminum will increase the temp by 27c, Iron will raise it by 32c and Steel will raise it by 55c. (Gold is only 6c). - I have absolutely no idea how all the slimelung in the Polluted O2 died. Slimelung grows in PO2. You should have had to clean that entire room of PO2, and kill the morb to get rid of the slimelung. I am so confused. If anyone knows what happened there, please let me know. - Yep, those are the veins of refined iron I mentioned. - Chlorine should be floating above your CO2. Tiny packets of gas can occasionally get deleted by the game. I expect that is what happened. - GJ thinking about and planning for the waste gasses from your Power Room. I wrote a reminder that isn't needed anymore :) - Your old smart battery will never lose power. In fact, it will stay at 100% forever unless your power spine brows out. It is not a good idea to have a battery on the small side of a transformer as it will allow for infinite current on the circuit.

Thank you! Yes exactly, thermal mass is what I meant! You've got some good points here, especially on the water line. I'm going to need to make those tweaks for episode 9 for sure. It hasn't posed a huge problem yet, but I do think it would be good to fix it so we have it running properly. Haha I'll just pretend I did really good work on the slimelung ;) Hmm, odd the chlorine just disappeared like that, but I suppose it isn't a massive loss.

@@MisterMcCrouton Chlorine for the most part is a waste gas. It has horrible thermal properties, and you can't make anything from it (other than salt and bleachstone).

I think a carbon dioxide sink on the right, below the power might be best.. Then as you said, just send it over.

I agree, I think moving some of the control down there would be easiest. I considered moving some Oxyferns down there but it may get too hot with the power generation.
