The new brown color reminds me of an Enfield Jungle Carbine my dad had. Great video and review, thanks!

I did same as you a few years ago. Bought the stock kit, Tech 200 sights, & mag extension from E Arthur Brown. Hated that finish, so I removed it and stained it with Minwax Red Oak and finished it off with Tung oil. At that time it only came with an upper hand guard with a cut-out for the Ruger rear sight but I was later able to get a hand guard without the cut-out from E.A. Brown. I've since put a longer skeletonized charging handle on it which makes cocking a little easier. No problem plinking tin cans at 100 yards with these peep sights. Great looking rifle and a good, accurate, and reliable shooter. I think it was worth the extra cost and I'm very happy with mine.

Where do you get this conversion kit at?
@phitaujwalk2 жыл бұрын
I got the Ruger M1 carbine version and replaced the charging handle with a JWH extended one which is closer to the original and much easier to use.

Just ordered this kit. Just to clarify, your process was, 1. Strip red finish with 00 steel wool 2. Stain with cognac 3. Seal ?
@titch-media2 жыл бұрын
Yes that was the process I used. You can use a different color stain depending on what color stock color u want. Enjoy your project!

Who makes that magazine snap on piece?
@titch-media Жыл бұрын
The magazine was included in the stock kit so not sure who made it.

Can you provide links to purchase this kit?
@titch-media2 жыл бұрын
The kit is available from E. Arthur Brown and Brownells for sure. If you search on MI Carbine Replica Ruger 10/22 you might find other vendors who may have it at a lower price.

I looked at the ruger that already comes set up like this.. the Talo I think. Don't make them anymore. I found the Chiappa M1 22 it costs abot 100 dollars more than a Ruger 10-22 but it is a lot closer from the bolt to the mag release to the safety. To be honest my 10-22 is a tack driver at 50 yards. The Chiappa is just as good. Plus my Rugers killed a lot of squirrels and rabbits and several hogs so I didnt wanna change it.

I have 3 real m1’s and of all the .22 rifles I own I do not have a 10/22 . But what I do have are a couple Marlins that came from the factory that were made to look somewhat like an M1 . Model #s are as follows . The 99m1 is a ten round tube fed and the 989M2 os the same but is box fed . They basically are based off the model 69 action and can be had for less than the $600.00 MOST OF THE TIME . Looking at the auction sights some people are asking outrageous prices but the ones I bought that look like new with the original sling we’re under 3 Benjamin’s. Just my two cents . So what you will .

That should have said Off the model 60 action . My phone changes things all by itself . Like the Do/So .

Great video, and the stock looks way better. I've been looking at getting a 10/22 for my son and wanted to do a M1 conversion to it, do you think this stock will work using the 10/22 Tactical with 16.1" threaded barrel?
@titch-media2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video feedback. I like the idea of using the tactical but not sure about it fitting the stock. I would ask the manufacturer. :)

You could buy a Chiappa M1-22, which is a 1:1 Replica of the M1 in .22LR, for less than you could buy and convert a Ruger 10-22..... Actually a brand new Chiappa M1-22 costs about the aame as rhe Ruger 10-22 out of the box. So you save a lot of money by not having to buy conversion parts! but also the M1-22 is of course a 1:1 replica. It's the real deal, only in .22LR
@M1car-bean2 жыл бұрын
Why build a replica when you can get a USGI for around $1000 to 1200$
@titch-media2 жыл бұрын
It cost less than $600 to do the replica. Plus it uses much cheaper ammo and I use it with my grandkids as an original M1 would be too much for them to handle. They get a kick out of firing it!

Going to build this with my grandson.

A 22 cannot be an m1 replica. Must be 30 carbine
@TheSulross2 жыл бұрын
yeah, got click-baited into this video and then defalted when seeing the so-called replica would fire 22LR

Lighten up😂 the manufacturer of the stock calls it a "tribute." great project for a grandchild.
