Took my 13 yr old grandson to the range today so that he could use his brand new Ruger 10/22 (black synthetic stock model) he got for Christmas. Once he got used to the sights, he was hitting the swinging steel target 65 yards away, using my range bag for support. The 70º weather on a Christmas day in Kentucky certainly made for an enjoyable time at the range.

You, sir, are describing what NORMAL life is like and how great it is in the "REAL" world out here in what Left Coast and Right Coast elitists call "Fly-over country." It's sad that they not only miss out on these special experiences of life, like you and your grandson had this Christmas, but that they also want to extinguish our great way of life. We have to continually resist their Totalitarian desires for control.

There are many positive qualities for having your Ruger 10/22 with a larger capacity magazine for general home defense. Dependable high capacity close in hit power. Mine is ready over the fireplace.
@MeltWithU2 жыл бұрын
Glad I’m not the only one. I would rather fire 25 accurate 22 LR rounds than 10 9 mm rounds where only one or two connect. In a high stress, random situation, you generally don’t have time to aim too well. Which is where the 22s come in. You can hip fire a 22 and still hit somebody pretty squarely. So many people think that 22 LR is horrible for self-defense. I actually think it’s a great weapon to have for self defense. It may take a few bullets to stop somebody, but you pretty much know that those bullets are always going to hit. I’ll take accuracy over ammunition size any day. And, if the situation requires it… I have my Mosburg 224 Olympic AR not too far away.

I have a 10/22 I owned since a kid I bet I put 100.000 rounds thru it I used to mow grass just to buy bricks of ammo to plink with. Any jams was either clip related or misfired cheap ammo. It still drives tacks I have owned a few after but none hold a place like the one my dad gave me. 10/22 is legend....

10-22 is my prefered choice. Really good out of the box and easily customized to be better. I like the flush mag and many don't so I've picked up a bunch of them cheap.

Hey Hickok45, when you're trying to release the bolt pull it to the rear, while holding it to the rear press and release the bolt release button then let go of the bolt and the bolt should close for you. I know this is an old video and maybe you've already figured that out. Glad to see your channel back up.

I'm not familiar with the 10-22, it looks like (sounds like) after the last round is fired the bolt does not remain open, and allows you to dry-fire after the last round? Not good on a rim fire gun, am I correct??? I really enjoy all your vid's.
@JakeSeiner10 жыл бұрын
No that rifle doesnt dry fire, at least not any of mine do.
@rcWizzard10 жыл бұрын
Jake Seiner Did you hear those several clicks with no Bang!!?? Sounded like a dry fire to me.
@zacharysmith94310 жыл бұрын
The 10/22 manual specifically says it won't be harmed by dry firing, and even recommends it for familiarity with the rifle. It is unusual in this regard, as dry firing will damage most rimfire weapons.

Zachary Smith The 10/22 has a firing pin stop, so it won't bottom out on the chamber and damage the pin.

Started with a Montgomery/Wards bolt action rifle. Technically a Mossberg bolt action 22. It shot 22 shorts,22longs,& good old 22long rifle. This was my first rifle. Purchased new in 1970. For $18.95 + tax = $24.89. Bought a 10/22 a few years later. I customized it with Volquartsen trigger and Extractor parts. It shoots great,never jambs.

I just wish somebody would manufacture a bullpup version of that sweet little rifle!!! With same length barrel and barrel style magazine for extremely more plinking fun!!! And would probably fit younger children better!! As well as sending enthusiasm through the roof!!! Permanently affixing the joy of shooting to there brain!!!

Awe come on sweetheart I'm thinking that's definitely an impossibility putting a 458mag round in rifle fitted for 22LR !!! But you're of course spot on in this regard it can be extremely dangerous!!! But I'm sure you were simply making a point sugar!!!

Mr. Hickok, is an Awesome Man, I really enjoy watching His Programs!!! He’s really Knowledgeable Of Firearms, Also the Way He Goes About Explaining what He’s Doing I think anyone Regardless of how Knowledgeable of Firearms Couldn’t Understand what He’s talking about! He’s Really A Good All-around Marksman, Even Though He May Miss A Few, Soon As He Learns His Sights He Begins Hitting His targets!!! I wish Everyone could Have there own Shooting Range, that would be Out Standing!!! Take Care, Mr. Hickok, & Keep On Producing Such An Enjoyable Program!!!!
