Very nice work, when you were drilling the holes through i thought they would have been for some round head Bolts, Nuts and Washers to set it off, then you put the dowels in without some glue, cut them all off, then when you sealed it all the dowels set it off just as good, so well done on the build it does look great, i bet your neighbours are jealous? Thanks for the compliments. Funny you mention the neighbors...the day I installed it I was cleaning up and had someone stop and ask where I bought it because they were interested in getting one like it. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

Pretty nice! I'm surprised you did not use any glue or construction adhesive. Looks great though...thanks for posting.

Thanks! The only way it will come apart is if someone took the time to knock all of the dowel pins out. Adding glue would have complicated the assembly and being my first time doing this joinery I didn’t need any help messing it up. LOL. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻

Beautiful work. Could you send me plans so I can try to duplicate it? Thanks!

I don’t have detailed plans but I do have a basic drawing with my measurements that I could send you. If you go to my website danprudlow.com and send me a message via the contact form I’d be happy to send it to you.

Very nice work! I recently did a mailbox build with my son on my channel as well. Yours is much nicer than mine :) Love the contrast of the dowels against the lighter wood. I wanted to ask how you like your Dewalt planer? I have a Porter Cable that has been very reliable, but it leaves about an inch of snipe on the board if I don't chase it with another. Also, the Porter Cable doesn't have dust collection, which stinks.

Thanks for the compliments and for watching. I do like the dewalt planer, so far I’ve had no issues and it’s taken everything I’ve put through without any trouble. It still leaves a little snip even with the in/out feed tables but I think you will have that with any planet that isn’t a big floor standing beast. I’d like to get the shelix cutterhead for it which would improve snip and make it quieter. The dust collection is nice, there is usually very little to clean up after using it. 👍🏻

Dust collection is where it's at! The less dust the better for me anymore. It didn't used to bug me as much, but the older I get the more it irritates my sinuses and eyes.

This one is made from reclaimed cedar 6x6 timbers. The mortise and tenon joints are draw-bore pinned with walnut dowels. There are no mechanical fasteners or glue used in this build. The finish is a clear spar urethane. Thanks for watching. If you have any comments or questions please leave them below or hit me up on social media, email, or my website.
