Dude! Really nice! I’m doing a build on an ironton 5x8 as well. Interesting technique with how you mounted the walls on the frame’s side rails like that. I might end up doing mine similar now. Learned something! You probably already thought this through way more than me but one thing to point out just in case. When I was doing research on pairing larger wheels on the axle, people were pointing out that spacers are dangerous for some reason. Something about it causing more pressure on the bolts. I don’t really get it, but I chickened out and bought a new axle that was wider off etrailer. Love the videos man, you’re killing it!
@buildersblueprint10 күн бұрын
Really how far have you gotten on the build? The spacers didn’t seem to ruin much, but I will say that it is probably safer to just replace the axle or at least the wheel spindle.
@davidvossel804210 күн бұрын
@@buildersblueprint I'm probably half way through. Kinda stalled out right now because it's so cold and the adhesive i want to use for some of the wall panels needs to be above 45 degrees for 24 hours to cure. I wish I had thought the timing through more on that. I ended up welding 2ft on the end of the frame and moving the axle back a bit to make it a 5x10. Trying to make it sleep 3 people. my wife really wanted that classic curved teardrop profile which is a challenge to get right. anyway, watched the video again. Love how you capture all the important details in such a condensed amount of time. Great presentation. Your doors are so legit as well. I gotta up my game 😄

Pretty epic build man, the attention to detail is intense, and I see what you doing and trying to imagine how I'd handle all the little details. And the answer is.... I wouldn't I'd just leave the screw holes, wouldn't bother with the near looking ceiling, or the trim. :D I was wondering how you were going to keep water from the wheels ruining the underside of the camper, and I like how you handled it with the resin and fiberglass coating. Just 1 small suggestion, you should think about an extension for the top. IIRC you have a smaller son, and you could build a pop out area, to give him his own sleeping area, up above, and during transport it would collapse down into the main area, then when your ready to camp you pop it up, and lock it in place with with steel flat bar or something. (like you have areas for the flat bar to slide through and lock into, and the pop up room rests on those flat bars. IF that makes sense.).

200 watt solar? Is that enough for that behemoth power system?
@AutieTortie3 күн бұрын
Not even close. That panel would deliver ~10A on an ideal day. The battery pack is 400Ah. So charging at 0,025C which is probably lower than the required current for a trickle charge. But that battery pack and inverter combo is mega, mega overkill for a tiny trailer like that. I would have added 100Ah of battery with maybe a 1000W inverter. No need for anything bigger than that in a trailer so small. Besides a 200W panel would charge a 100Ah battery at about 0,1C which should provide a tiny bit of trickle charge.
@crs97964 күн бұрын
