Love the dresser and the channel in general! I also love this addition of plans/courses and your focus on teaching general skills in the plans. I'm thinking about making this piece but was wondering how long you think it would take someone to make it? I'm sure the real answer is "it depends", but I'd appreciate if you could give a range or ballpark estimate. If it matters, I have a small space, most of the right tools but entry level (e.g. a small countertop table saw), and most importantly, I'd be a solid "beginner" to "advanced beginner" at best. Also: could I start with pre-milled lumber? I don't have a jointer or planer.
@Foureyes.Furniture2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew...you're absolutely right about the real answer being "it depends" I would say the range would be 25 hours to 100 hours. That being an expert craftsman who is simply duplicating this build, to somebody more like you that will probably watch the videos multiple times, be learning new concepts along the way, and just generally taking a bit longer on each step. As for pre-milled....yes you can. Or even plywood for all, or certain parts.

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs kzbin.infoUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

For me, the detail of the door and drawer fronts sitting back from the main case is brilliant! I would not have done that by choice but after seeing it , it adds a great dimensionality to the face of the piece. Great work and best of luck with the plans.

What a beautiful modern looking piece of bedroom furniture. The wood choice, spot on for the overall look. I love the way you cut your drawer faces from a joined larger piece. Nice extra step to better match the grain. I can see that applying to many applications. I learned something today when you cut the double tapper legs. Thanks! Finally, the off set routered edge on the support frame, while such a small design detail, added a dimensional difference that is pleasant to the eye. ~Rock on dude~

Chris Salomone yes I know but it’s interesting that you admit to. Almost be worth doing a “what my friends think I do for a living, what my parents think I do for a living, what my wife thinks I do for living” followed with what it actually looks like. I think you are right though hopes, dreams and people’s expectations are often fixated on what is seen on KZbin videos but it’s so not that. Making it look easy, clean and frustration free I know that’s why I got into woodworking but I know the reality is not the same especially the amount of time and energy it takes to plan a piece even if you have plans to work off. Thanks for keeping it real!

Hi, I’ve been a very long time subscriber and without trying to be hurtful can sometimes find some videos a little self involved but I enjoyed this video hugely. It made me realise why I subscribed in the first place. It’s very clear the quality and skill of your furniture making has continued to improve over the years. These units are probably the finest thing you have made and my personal favourite, though I prefer the square version - which is lucky as it’s probably the one best suited to my ability. It’s clear you’ve gone above and beyond in the making of the guides and the presentation got me excited to have a go myself. I got to the end thinking that I would treat myself or that it would be an ideal candidate to go on my birthday wish list as that’s the sort of thing my mum or girlfriend would enjoy getting me, but the price point excludes either. I’m sure it’s a very fair price, this would be my first such guide, I say again the quality is clearly exceptional and the amount of effort put in is impressive. This isn’t meant to come across as a moan, just as feedback from someone who this product appeals to. At half the price I’d probably buy it as a motivator to step up my woodwork but at $100 bucks it seems like commitment. The cabinet is beautiful and the music complimented the video particularly well. Cheers

I asked about it and it's a 1950's original. I had to move the tall dresser a little and it weighed a ton. No idea of the maker but I'm definitely going to find out. The design is fairly similar structurally to yours here. The drawer pulls extend access the full length of the drawers in all 3 pieces. I already told them I'd they ever decide to update their furniture I definitely want to chance to get it from them.
