We planted this shady, sometimes wet berm with North Carolina native plants.

Brie…..”impulsive” planting!? 🤣🤣 Say it is’nt so! (Girl, you’re always a wee bit impulsive as that works best with your boundless enthusiasm!). Well done on eliminating invasives. 👍🏻 I’m always pleased that you are one of the few KZbinrs that actually shows the work to be done. Love those Before and After shots.

Brie - I don’t have too much smilax, but I sure do get oodles of those d&#% sweetgums. I found using pliers to be an effective tool at pulling those deep roots - punch down by the ground and yank. Good luck!

Ohhh good idea!!!!

I'd love to see some close-ups of all the invasive stuff for identification purposes! Maybe with their names too. That would be super helpful 🤩

Great idea!!! I’ll do that!

Good morning. Your jobs are all relatable which makes your channel my favorite. I was hoping to get dozens of plugs of a native fern like d marginalis and carex plugs - more Appalachia - for my woodland (also previously a tapestry of invsasives). For one I can’t buy the fern plugs anywhere. But I’m also concerned it’s going to a long hot dry summer. I have sooo much to keep alive as is. Another shout out for carex Appalachia - all 32 of my plugs are thriving in dappled shade. I’m actually surprised.

I have a tray of c Appalachia to plant! I love that!

@@BrieThePlantLady Mt Cuba gave it a bad rating so I had low expectations. I think maybe it likes the chapel hill grit that washes into where it’s planted.

Hey Brie, Spray the poison ivy with the brush killer. That is one of its main uses.

Ugh! I also have many of these invasive plants and it’s a challenge to get rid of them. Plus poison ivy which I am very allergic to.

Managing these unwanted woodies is the part of gardening I hate.

OMG! I use Brush Killer also, it’s the best weed killer I’ve ever used.😃

I’m so sorry you’ve been sick and hope you’re feeling better! Could you comment on what specific shade natives that you planted? Thank you!

I just wrote an article featuring everything I planted. I will email it to you! I need to make labels. I was in such brain fog the day I planted this I didn’t label anything or record it 🤦♀️ now I have to figure out what all these ferns are.

Good morning, good to know how to identify weeds, on poison ivy, will u spray it? Highly allergic to poison ivy myself, I can’t pull them ! Thanks

The glyphosate spray does work. I mix it extra strong from concentrate. The hard part is not to get the spray on any of your desirable plants.

Such a beautiful woodland garden. I have tons of trees that squirrels planted along my fence line. My neighbor thinks I planted them but I swear it wasn't me lol. Any good brands of brush killer? I'm being invaded by tons of plants and I feel this year I need to spray or sprinkle something to help me out

I use the old fashioned 2-4-d and it works fast! I sprayed (finally) yesterday) and today plants are wilting.

I share your dislike of Smilax! My husband and I removed lots of it from our yard many years ago. For several months we cut the thorny vines and dug out the big roots (which was an unpleasant job).
@BrieThePlantLadyАй бұрын
Ugh those roots can be huge! That’s a serious job!
