Scuff the paint and shoot it white! Removing the panels and replacing is a TON of work.

It’s a ton of work to sand that thing too. And almost every panel on it has a dent or tear.

Well for breakfast, I had weetabix with dried fruit. And scrambled eggs with toast, and coffee. O and lg speed and custom. I don’t no the size of your budget Lee, but the lg speed logo and a picture of your roadster, on the sides. Or just on the back doors? Now I’m putting this to you with out any research on prices. Sign painted or large stickers. The advertising would be great when you’re on a road trip. Hope there’s enough room for three cars as I think lux would definitely want to take his midget racer to the drags. Shannon’s work on the radio is top notch. . Best wishes to Shannon lux and yourself. Tim.

Might be trouble with US DOT, as it would be considered a commercial unit, if you advertise company/business name on it?

Ok I never thought of that. I suppose it would also be different from state to state.

reskinning is a pain in the ass worked on semi trailers in the past, reskinning and getting it sealed up so It doesn't leak is going to be a nightmare with the rusty frame work , it there's rust it's going to be a crack in one or two spots then lining up the screw holes you may even have to get bigger hardware . Strip it and Polish it out or give it a repainted would be one of your best options .

Another great video... your channel is the best 👍 Regarding the trailer wrap colour, I was wondering if the darker 'brown sugar' colour might be ok since it's not right up close to the cab. How about two tone?🤔 Perhaps the bottom half lining up with the top of the deck/tray/box (can't remember what Canadians call it) could be black and the top in the darker brown sugar colour with a polished aluminium strip between. Or maybe black with brown scallops to keep the old school look. Or just slap on some blackboard paint and let people scribble on it. 😂 Whatever you choose I'm sure will be great. Cheers, Glen.

Insulate the entire living area to save yourself from the oven effect. When inside use the lock through both lock holes without the bar. This will stop someone from locking you in. Will you be making a video on the Beaumont? Oh, and brushed aluminum will make you a movable, blinding mirror..
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms Ай бұрын
Planning on insulating the inside. Our last trailer wasn’t insulated, and there was definitely times when it was uncomfortable.

You don't need to screw panel on the door, modern adhesive or even silastic is much stronger and can't vibrate loose. . . and no leaks or screw dents

Who knew watching someone plot out - cut and assemble an aluminum door could be so enjoyable! (OK maybe I need to get out more)!? I like the idea of the brush'd aluminum with strips. Why not mock it up on fusion 360? But I think it would look cool.

Go for the brushed and be cool, spray foam after you install windows, A/C/Heater unit on the roof, foam core on the walls and ceiling, will keep your Crib Comfortable. I'm jealous. Cheer.

Maybe some insulation between the door skin and plywood interior.
@martinjay5906
@martinjay5906 Ай бұрын
Ah , you could of put a weld prep bevel on the butt joints and still had a weld on the plywood sides . Then you can sand flat but still have strength of a weld there.
@LGKustoms

I could yup. I think as is will be plenty strong though. Way stronger than the stapled wood frame it used to have

Your going a good job but you could have saved yourself a lot of time buying a ply metal door blank from a semi trailer supplier, time is money but you won’t have the content for your Chanel. As far as buying the 48” panels ( DONT ) the 49 “ is for overlap and strength, the next time your going down the highway look at the sides of other trailers they flex a lot , so stay with the 49” panels . When I was working we buck riveted all the side panels, that was the way that they hold up. The side sheets that we sold were.050 pre painted white one one side and silver on the other. Hope this helps .
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms Ай бұрын
I never knew trailer door blanks were available, but after you suggested it I looked them up. Nothing available locally, I’d have to buy one from the US and ship it here, which puts it at close to $400. I built this door for $86.

the trailer is only funky on the rear side panels and rear door - right ? after seeing you build the door , couldn't you get the exact same panels in black and replace the 1/2 dozen damaged one's on each side ? and have a new looking trailer ? , and in the future paint a stripe to match the truck
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms Ай бұрын
Of the 18 panels on the trailer, only four are damage free. I considered only replacing the panels it needed, but I felt the contrast between the new panels and the old faded/scratched panels would be too noticeable.

Brushed aluminum will corrode very fast and turn white. I don't think that is a very good idea. Find a complementary color to "Brown Sugar" and wrap it. Very durable and weather resistant and you can change it anytime you want a different look.
