Let's build a city! - a small one but with an impressive array of features: from a big geothermal power plant supplying lots of electricity, a full set of water/sewage utilities, a central train station with an outside passenger rail connection, a railyard and pharmaceutical factory, old 'organic' suburbs as well as modern single-developer suburbs, and some surrounding farmland! I just started a new city on it today. It's so gorgeous, I spent like two hours just going around the map, admiring the views, tinkering with tree lines and adding a beach all along the coast using the ore surface. The terrain is a perfect mix of challenge and realism, instead of random slopes and 100m deep waters everywhere. Kudos!

@@alekscisasa I def wanted to try that with the surfaces, but wanted to keep the map mod free. Hoping in the future they update the editor to include surface texture painting. I miss beaches! It would be amazing to have a pool of 10 or so textures (unrelated to resources) to paint with.

Nice build but you have Anarchy on all the time, hardly surprising that you have "weird" stuff happen. Only use Anarchy when you absolutely have to otherwise you're banking problems later on. Anyway, minor twitchy bit aside... your desire for more stuff to detail with is closing in on being fulfilled and that issue with the smokestacks can be overcome to some extent by just allowing industries to spawn in and just delete any smokestacks by hand! (DevUI -> Simulation -> Debug Mode; switch to UI Bindings -> ActionWhatever; select the undesired smokestack; click delete in the DevUI... voila!)

Ive been doing the same trick you used with the groundwater pumping stations, using the elementary schools, in L shapes and even 3 schools in a U shape as my biggest one. Love these videos more than speed builds, but i still enjoy them all.

Personally i think this could be a cool series, where you dont focus on one town, but rather a lot of smaller towns throughout the map. I know you are from Denmark, and i thought of something like the Danish towns, which are close too each other but still different and apart. Amazing video as always btw

Since this map is based off New Zealand. Did anybody here know that Auckland is at a similar latitude to Las Vegas, but on opposite hemispheres. Both cities around 36 degrees. Auckland is a coastal city, and not only is Las Vegas hot for it's latitude, it's at a higher altitude as well. This is April, so the seasons are about average on both hemispheres right now. You can always look up Google Weather and find out.

Little tip for cul de sacs... You can create it manually with an alley road and fill the middle with asphalt surface. That way you can fully customize it and build around it.

OMG! The bypass lane on that T Junction 😮! Why haven't I thought of that. It looks just like what I'm used to Sir. Love it🎉...I recommend using the T Junction like you set up the 1st time before that funky loop to the right to cross the hwy move ya did. Just saying.

I'm in the US, my city still primarily uses the Civil War era sewers. Anytime there's a bad rainstorm the water treatment overflows into the storm sewer and dumps sewage directly into the river :(

The sad truth is that C:S 2 was released 12 months too early. It's like the creator showed the publisher a minimum viable tech demo, and were then forced at gunpoint to just crap it out. You can make a cookie-cutter suburb of an ugly American industrial city, but you can't do a damn thing else. I don't see any interest in fixing the game coming from them, either. They might nickel-n-dime us with Sims 4 DLC, but they also might just let it fade into memory.

@@YveDahl It was Paradox, not the developer, that pushed the game to be released in an unready state - because of stockholders pushing for more profit.

I always felt like the company, who looks for profit first, saw all the free coding and developing the modders did in CS1 and figured if they get the unfinished base game out the rest would be 'finished' by the community. I know that is an oversimplification of the process but just looking through the lens of profits, billable hours, payroll...why wouldn't the corporate types see this as a financial gamble they are willing to take in lieu of reputation. Every word of the week talked about how small of a shop they were etc. Then they hired a bunch of upper level people to mitigate the issue but not actually solve the problem by doing the work. Didn't hire coders which is all the tea leaves you need to read. But they did some things great. You can tell how much time they took on details of the base assests they did bother to create. The roads and how they merge and interact was prly their top priority. Also the UI is pretty well laid out. But the simulation is probably the bag they fumbled the most which ultimately is the main point of a SIMULATION game! I was very close to dropping 2k on a com that can handle this game but all these issues has stopped me from doing so until it is more stable. I would buy this game as a city painter as it is but not 2k on a pc to run the simulation which is broken

As much as I love the content, it seems like every CS2 city looks the same at this point. There are some exceptions where people go out of their way in dev mode, but it's kinda sad that's necessary. Your desert town was the most unique I've seen on youtube so far.

we need more editing and mods to personalize our cities. Different trees and climate zones like in cs1. I upgraded my pc for this but haven't played cs2 since upgrading. Waiting for some mods to really make my city standout. Lets hope it comes soon

Did people expect this game to come out with all the content that cs1 had? I am so confused by the hate. It seems people are just mad cause no good mods yet and the game not having the 400 dlcs the first one had.

@@jonredcorn862 No of course not. But even the basic stuff isn't working correctly. Houses complaining about rent for no reason for example. It doesn't matter what you build, your city will be rolling in cash. You don't have to manage your budget or anything. Just build and zone, so you get the same 5 roads and 3 houses all over the place. There's nothing else to do because it doesn't matter. You've seen Biffa build a huge city without even building any electricity facility. And when you do, you can just sell the excess making even more money.

@@BlazingsNL Yeah I can definitely get behind getting those things fixed. That was a big complaint about cities 1 as well. Coming from sim city 4 it felt like babies first city builder. To hear this is worse isn't great. Hopefully it's not intentional.

I think it's kinda hilarious that people are mad this game doesn't have all the years and years of content that cs1 has. I've never seen a sequel come out for any game that was able to do that..

People are mad, because their favourite creators stopped playing CS1. They forgot that it is CS1’s highly modded and detailed builds that attracted their audience in the first place. None doubts that CS2 will be a better game eventually, but right now it is almost like early access stage. For now, I and a lot of others would like to watch what we subbed for initially.

It's not possible to fit a park to its surroundings out of the box because they want to charge you for that later. This is, sadly, the Paradox model. Reskin a game, handful of new features, remove anything that could be a DLC later, so for each game iteration they can charge $100 to $300 for a game. This happens with 100% of Paradox releases.

@@darren6589 I'm guessing there may be a language barrier, your reply is difficult to comprehend. When did I say someone was forcing me to buy a game? What games cost thousands of dollars? What does playing golf have to do with not wanting to be price gouged? If you're excited to pay $30 to unlock a feature that is already coded into a game, and that you've already paid $30 to unlock in its predecessor, then more power to you. But simping for Paradox on youtube to me is a waste of your time and poorly done at that. Perhaps you're the one that should be getting outside to expand your horizons.

@@Skibidy_rizzler_ OK so nine years plus forgive me, still no excuse for cities skylines two to be such an utter failure. So much so, that everyone in the community is revolting against it. The developers & Paradox interactive need to hear what the community has to say about it. It’s pathetic that they started blocking customers who are commenting negatively about CS 2… cash grab!
