Great work guys ! We moved to Nova Scotia two years ago and have our own little homestead, there’s nothing else as rewarding. Keep up the great work.

It's a lot of bog, black flies and about half a dozen dump sites 😅 a bit of a fixer upper a far as land goes.

Your pigs look very happy! Nice pig palace Dominic and Scott. I'll bet Dominic wishes Scott was nearby and eager to help all the time! I follow another homestead that used surveyors tape to mark the wire, the theory being that it helps the pigs see and recognize where the wire is so they can avoid it. It may help? Exciting times on the homestead. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Kevin! I like the idea of the tape so much! They'll be relearning where the wires are every time we move. I may have touched the wire with no shoe on (for science) it's a kick in the pants.

@@ODriscolls LOL, I did the same thing 35 years ago but I used my bare hand. The foot might be worse? It makes you take notice huh? ;o) I liked the tape idea as well.

Hahaha I used my hand but took off my shoe! The rubber soles keep you from getting a good shock. Dominic learned the hard way that placing your hand on a wooden post and touching the wire will ground you as well regardless of rubber boots 😆

Yeah, I didn't have rubbers on so I was well grounded too. Worn out sneakers I think... Yes, wood is a conductor because of the water content. Don't ever touch a tree that has contacted a power line. Sounds like we've all had some shock therapy now, lol!

There is always so many things to get done on a Homestead. We are trying to get our pig pasture ready. Our pigs are arriving in 12 days. we thought we were getting 2 but the guy we bought pigs from gave us a free one. Now we have 3. We are doing the same as you guys are and trying to get the brush cleared up a little bit and let the pigs do the rest. take care guys. Cheers.

It's so much work! We are training them to the wire in the spot they are now so that bought us a little extra time. But time is fleeting and there is never enough lol.

@@ODriscolls that is the truth. Days are flying by and never enough daylight to get everything done. We have 35 meat chickens to butcher the same weekend the pigs arrive. I think I may need my head examined. 😂😂

What are these posts called? I have seen them before but have no idea what they are called and this is exactly what I am looking for some future fencing. Glad you are enjoying your piggies! I love what ours around doing in our woods. Great to have animals doing some of the work.

They are called timeless fence posts! They are awesome! We learned about them after watching Greg Judy videos on KZbin.

Pardon the ignorance;) we’ve never had pigs... they seem a good size - not as small as i expected. Is it the breed difference or are they not “babies “ anymore? Everything is looking awesome you guys. So much progress this spring 🙌🙌

We're new too! We didn't know what size they would be either. These are nearly 2 months old. I think they might be smaller than a lot of pigs you might raise for meat. Pigs grow pretty quickly (as I have recently learned).
