I love your farm. I love that you show how to do as much as possible without spending money. And you make it look nice. You’re not just throwing “junk” together and calling it good. You make the effort to make it nice. I think it’s wonderful. Really enjoy it and appreciate it. And ya had a great little helper today too! 😉 TFS! God Bless you all ~Lisa

If you put some 4x4's into the ground and secure the pallets it could work for mini horses. If not, they would knock it over from scratching their necks or butts against it. I enjoyed the video and loved watching the pig and goat.

Hi Dad, I would put a couple of posts down the middle, where the pallets meet... to help with the snowload. And I would really think about some rolled roofing for the roof.. Michigan winter is coming my friend.

Sansom’s Pressure Cleaning & Pool Service It’s easy to retro fit to support the roof better. It’s NOT easy to rebuild after a collapse. I had a collapse last winter due to snow load. Nothing like checking the animals’ webcam during the night (because we were getting heavy snow) & seeing everything collapsed! 😱 That day started really early...lol It’s better for him to put up a pole or two now, than to have to dig out a collapsed structure & try to rebuild in 18” of fresh snow.🤷🏻‍♀️We were lucky to have not lost any animals. Miraculously.

The gentleman did ask for comments, and suggestions. This one was given with genuine helfullness in mind. I saw no criticisim at all. I watched to learn how-to using free materials. I will use A Canadian in Europe's instruction, bc he is right. I live in Virginia, and will not have the same snow load, but I see how the stability added is valuable also for wind, ice, whatever snow we do get, and to make it last as long as possible.

I would recommend that you put several wedges to fill the gaps between the roof and the frame. If a strong wind hits it would add more stress that the pallet roof can take and fall apart.

The second hammer I ever bought was a three pound mini-sledge, several times in this video it would have come in handy. It might be easier, next time you bulld walls: start in a corner so the wall starts self-supporting. But good build, overall.

New subscriber here! We are in Las Vegas on a small ranch. This video was perfect. I’m always looking for easy to build shelters that my hubby will actually be able to do without too much building. Did you have to secure it into the ground with posts set in cement or is it just sturdy enough on the ground? Genius!
@SSLFamilyDad
@SSLFamilyDad 5 жыл бұрын
The weight of the structure seems to be enough to hold it firmly on the cinder blocks I laid out under each pallet wall. To make it more sturdy sink 4 posts in the ground (no cement needed) at each corner but I don't think it is necessary
