Building a pocket yacht boatbuilding slideshow.

Building a Sam Devlin Surf Scoter 22. This is stitch and glue construction using West System Epoxy bi-axial fiberglass among layers of Meranti Dragon mahogany plywood. Exotic hardwoods used include; white oak, merbau, cumaru, jatoba, spanish cedar, and mahogany.

The flat transom semi-displacement hull is a problem for electric power. At low speeds, the wake turbulence will hamper the efficiency too much. You could spend 5x the cost of the hull build on propulsion that can get to planing speed, but the weight of the batteries to do that is a problem. For electric, maybe consider the maia 21 or 24 from boatbuildercentral. On a displacement hull like that, you might get 3-4 hours @ about 7kts. You could extend that with a diesel generator if you can find the space for it.
