I did a factory tour in '97. But it was a full on factory tour, on the floor with the employee's biulding these great cars. Did the body shop, engine room, interior making, etc. I fell in love with the 993Turbo. Had to have one. So saved up, and bought one 10years ago. Absolute dream. Couldn't believe that the staff room provided one beer per man in their lunch break. Wow. There was no OHS back then for employee or visitor. It was a highlight of my life and Porsche experience. I fell in love with the 911 while selling them at a Porsche dealership in 1982. My first 911 was a 79 930. That car nearly bankrupted me when I spun a rod on the crank while racing it. I was 26 making $1,000 a month, lol. Since then, I've had 7 of them (all used, never been able to afford a new one.). My current is a 07 911 S cab. I bought it from the original owner, he is 81 years old, so there's still hope this won't be my last 911.

Most engines die through people not actually “breaking” them in.
@EK-rr2md3 жыл бұрын
@@thewiizard No they dont. Most people dont even know there is a recommended break-in process outlined in their owner's manual. Car manufacturers know this, that is why most engines are already tested ahead of time when they are produced. Besides modern engines are built with much more accurate tolerances than they were even 20 years ago and the rings get broken in almost immediately when tested at the factory. The transmission, suspension and brakes require more break-in these days than the engine does.
@thewiizard3 жыл бұрын
@@EK-rr2md exactly. Seeing people write about breaking an engine in over 500-1000 miles makes me cringe. I just know their going to blaze the barrels and never bed the bearings in properly. 2k miles later they wonder why it span a main.

Actually the factory does test the engine up to redline. But the factory test to redline is not under a load as when its in the car accelerating or even a static steady rpm. Its quite different and can generate tremendous heat and other destructive forces until broken in.

6:33 The priming and painting process that electrically designates paint particles with an opposite charge to the metal body for vastly improved oxidation protection was originally a Ford Moter Company innovation. In the David Halbserstam book "The Reckoning" he recounts the development of the process. In the 50s and 60s, Ford products were notorious rust buckets even by the standards of the other American car companies. Halberstam describes the top executives of the company allocating vast resources of money and manpower to engineer a solution. Ford made a brilliant technical breakthrough that put the company far ahead of its domestic and foreign rivals. But because Ford was run by accountants and controllers(beancounters) and not engineers, the company, concerned about the tremedous cost to implement the new technology were slow to install the large and expensive ovens into their factories. According to Halberstam, the slow monetizing of a new technology was very typical of Ford. Their caution prevented the company from being the world leader in a technology they invented.

I drive the original 2.5 Boxster 986. Now done 250 000 km's. After track days and boiling the brakes on the occasional Porsche Club track days, I feel quite sorry for the incredible punishment that it often endures, especially when boiling the fluid and loosing brakes after ~50 minutes of hard racing. Yet after cooling down, (using the standard callipers) it is perfect again. It's still immaculate after all these years and all I can say. If they forgot that Corvette exists, it’s hard to argue that it is “more well known” 😂. I would suggest that it is not more well known outside USA. Also, Corvette has gone through more iterations where only the name was basically carried over, not the whole design concept. Now it’s mid-engined even, in no way recognizable to C1…or C7 for that matter. Now put a gen 1 911 next to the current model…

I like you style of presentation, it's one of my two favorite syles; Either a video with only machine sounds or even better, a video with a narration(however, never music, although the way you blended the music in is okay) ❤

25:40 this is magic to my eyes. This sort of amazing video make my heart beat. I love engines and industrial as well. I want to do mecanics ! That is great that Porsche is about to release the safari. Porsche was always there. As a certainty. I had luck to have done a passenger ride with the legendary braking. I always prefered american muscle v8 but the porsche is so sofisticated, different and iconic that it will enter into my dream garage for sure.

The philosophy of the rich and the poor is this: "the rich invest their money and spend what is left. The poor spend their money and invest what is left".

Interesting, most people don't understand the market moves and tend to be mislead in facts like this and always depend on Money in the Bank very bad idea.

It's nice to hear people discuss about investment, because investment always beat cash.

I'm happy to see Mr Jay Frank mentioned here, My spouse recommended him to me after investing £4000 and he has really helped us financially in thu times of COVID-19 lockdown here in Australia.

Exactly, money is always eager and ready to work for anyone who is already to employ it, I was able to withdraw my profit of $17,000 after investing $3,500 with Mr Jay Frank some weeks ago.

Thanks. Porsche has carved a niche for itself amongst sports car producer, as a first Class brand that considers Excellence, Quality and Standard as premium. I can't wait to start driving mine.
