Great video! I was the one requesting relative units (REMs) for Framer. Framer is such a great tool but needs to add more features with developers in mind, instead of designers.

17:25 For a more semantic layout you could put the heading and the paragraph in their own stack. This would be semantic because it would suggest that they are related. And maybe you could even turn that into a component for use else where. :)

FYI, You can add code and CSS using Code Overrides and Code Components
@TheCoderCoder6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I saw those but I think I couldn't use it on the free version iirc
@bingers_tv6 ай бұрын
@@TheCoderCoder yeah you can use them and they're a game changer. You can create React components, override Framer components, add props which you can control from the editor etc... very powerful
@paul_subtirel6 ай бұрын
this is really cool. have you tried the figma to framer plugin to copy your assets over? if you have auto-layout in figma it copies the elements into stacks directly and it's less editing from you

I think for coders divhunt and webflow are better fit as low-code tool, both based on html & css. So you can do anything you like as a developer. Divhunt is a bit more open and has better developer support through custom files and direct custom tag editing.
@TheCoderCoder6 ай бұрын
Interesting, thanks for the rec! I hadn't heard of divhunt but Webflow def seems like a more developer-friendly tool. Will have to check those both out!

I like Framer above other website builders because you can write custom React components. As a developer myself to me that puts above all others. React components allow me to ramp up the basics of the site in Framer then add extra interaction or integration with React. But to be fair I would rather just write the code myself that way I know exactly how everything works, so I don’t like page builders.
@TheCoderCoder6 ай бұрын
That's fair! It does seem like Framer is geared towards React devs with their components

Webflow is miles ahead of Framer. Definitely a step above Framer, and you do actually need custom code for a lot of Webflow specialities to work and shine.

I don't think so, because you still need to know CSS to troubleshoot. And for complex stuff these tools probably can't do it.

Framer support is terrible, and if you raise something like this about pixels or accessibility issues, nobody does anything. I am a designer, but I prefer to code myself rather than have a tool generate garbage code for me. I totally agree that Framer is a good tool for quick and easy pages.

nah just use html and css. also just use pixels. rems are confusing and are defined in relation to the pixel size in the end other than that great video.
@TheCoderCoder6 ай бұрын
My next video is actually about why you shouldn't use pixels for most things because they're not accessible for users who want to change their browser font size! Hopefully it'll help make rems less confusing for people
@spirobel2.06 ай бұрын
@@TheCoderCoder Okay fair point. 1 rem === 16 pixels in most browsers. I tried changing the font size before and it is just a completely awful experience. It is better to just add a default zoom to achieve the same result. I will make the counter argument and say you should only use pixels.
