How long do you wait between putting in the foundation and laying blocks? Got a similar task to take on

Hi Scott, you can do it the very next day! Concrete cures pretty quick. It will still be "Green" the next day but, you can lay the blocks straight on the foundation with no problem. Hope that helps 😉

I have a 900mm high retaining wall to build what depth and width footing do I need to dig please

I would recommend your footings to be a minimum of 150mm (6") in depth, and 400mm (16") wide. Make sure the bottom of your trench is at least 350 - 400mm (14-16") below ground level on most soils. For clay soil however, thicker and deeper footings should be used. Hope that helps😉

I need to build retaining wall, only approx 3 foot high, the wall will be around 12 meters long. The soil it will be retaining is on a slight slope. Do I need to put anything behind the wall? Like a water drain pipe? Or can I just use weep holes like in this video? And do I just back fill the wall with soil or gravel? Thanks

Hi, That's quite long wall so yes, I would put in a perforated drainage pipe with gravel behind and build weep holes into the wall. Make sure you lay the blocks on flat (wall width should be minimum of 210mm) Hope that helps

For a wall of this height, it would ve been better to use some rebar in footing and also leaving a bit more space behind the wall for pea gravel and drainage.

I'm gonna disagree with you, but thanks for your comments. 😁

Great video. I've just built one very similar 4m long and 45cm tall. Do I need a perforated pipe behind for drainage? Thanks

Hi James. put some old concrete/stone rubble behind the wall for drainage, much cheaper than perforated pipe as it comes in 25 meters rolls so you'd have loads left over for a 4 meter wall😁

That's great thanks

Drainage rock wrapped in non-woven filter fabric behind wall?

Not necessary for a tiny length of wall like that Ben, total overkill mate
