Regarding the cost of total demolition and rebuild. The crucial factor for me when I was in this position is - what price do you put on proper, modern foundations and properly constructed external walls? When the original foundations came up they were dismal.

Dead right about the weight of the blocks 25 years ago I layed similar in Germany they had interlocking ends and we dipped them in thin joint so easier to lay, I'd want to two them now and I wouldn't walk along the top of the wall filling it using the concrete hopper as my handrail oh to be 36 again

There are 3 types of retaining walls: 1. Retaining walls that have fallen down, 2. Retaining walls that are falling down, and, 3. Retaining walls that have not started to fall down, but will fall down some time in the future!

I'm surprised that You did not cut or lay some of the buttress blocks into the wall block's ie a joint, as you only have bar layed on the joint, and not bent over into a u shape so you have both directions of movement covered, I have done walls and swimming pools with block and rebar , it's not just the weight of what you put behind that wall, it's all the garden over time that will spread that weight into that wall, a cage and boards would have been stronger and you don't have buttraces on the side there force will be pushed in, This is worth a rethink, that wall will fail im sure , winter is on its way

@@richardbrice6535 those blocks are heavy and get filled with concrete . But the blocks have no strength, they will fail. It should have been a wall of pure reinforced concrete , boarded up with a grid of steel cage . This way the movement will firstly crack all the render . In the outline of the blocks ,

I don't really understand how disputes work... if you get planning permission, isn't that the end of it? Assuming of course there's no alterations after the fact. But then surely resubmission of planning permission would be required anyway, I would have thought.
@john_smith1471
@john_smith1471 9 ай бұрын
I think the issue might be partly the drawn measurements provided do not fit onto the piece of land at the back as mentioned in an earlier video, also same neighbours garden wall is only one stretcher brick deep leaving it vulnerable if adjacent soil is dug out.

There are rules to adhere to with regard to party wall act. Even if you have planning permission damage to other property is not covered by that and it’s a long process to try and get all the agreement and avoid disputes.
