at last a video that actually shows the best notion has to offer. complexity should come with the continuous use of the app and not as a starting system and this video shows exactly what a robust structure is. from there it's all about experience and own feedback. thanks a lot Danny!

How do you manage your notes? I'm more interested on books. Do you keep some sort of system for that and evergreen notes?
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
I don't personally read much but when I do I had a page for the book/article and then all the notes inside that with the relation property giving me the option to link the book/article with others that are similar. P.S I have actually recently changed apps for note taking due to my want for more linking options.

good video Danny - quick question - is there a Notion Road map for 2021? Evernote have just added a Dashboard so im trying to find out, what is in the pipe line for Notion...? I'm a paid subscriber as of last month asi felt Notion is a really good tool, however, with the other productivity apps updating, the competition is getting harder to ignore. This is mainly because i don't know what Notion plan to introduce (if anything..?) in the near to long-term future? Cheers.

There is not a public road map that you can go and look at. Their twitter is the best place to find upcoming releases. The API is the next big release 😁

Well. Thank you for creating this video. It is helpful in building a homepage in Notion but this is NOT a second brain I was looking for. BTW, the second brain is some kind of a knowledge management system....
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
It is just the second brain I personally used for a couple of years. Add or subtract what works for you. Yes, a second brain is knowledge management between notes and actions. Tiago reinforces input to output with output requiring action, hence tasks and projects. Notes are captured and processed in a page then used for action. We all work with different systems 😁

Self-referenced filters are very cool, thanks for showing that! It would be great to have the pages appear in the linked database as a default, rather than having to go in and click on them. Also, do you have any setup tips to add a list of daily habits all at once? This would replace the need to enter each of our habits every day.
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
it is a great feature. When it comes to habit tracking, I would go with a database and have the habits as property checkboxes so you can just tick them when they are done each day. 😁

Great video! I've been using Notion for a few months and ready to step it up. When creating a 'Habits' DB, do I need to re-enter the habits each day? I've watched your video over and over, and you said no matter how many habits we put in there, they will repopulate the next day. It sounds good for daily items not related to projects but it seems like I have to re-type them every time. Is that right?
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
The habit is the name or icon of the property so doesn't change or go unless you make it so. 😁

Ok, so pretty much a week in and I feel Obsidian offers a much better flow to research any given topic as it seems there's less chaos each time a link is made, and although notion allows backlinks it's not as smooth as Obsidian. Where I think Notion maybe a bit more simple, at least with the template I'm using, is the content managing and scripting, which is a bit annoying as having everything in one single place would avoid copy pasting of information.
@DannyHatcherTech2 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean regarding the template? Notion and Obsidian work very similar but Obsidian has more functionality in template.
@andreduarte72062 жыл бұрын
@@DannyHatcherTech buy template I mean the overall structure of the apps. I don't like the term "Zettelkasten" but let's just say something inspired on - start from a long noting page and creating links from there - Notion seams to offer a UI that's really good for work and process/consume information that's less fragmented than something that requires multiple linking. At least that's how I feel 😅 Of course the quantity of notes is going to be much more important the the platform.

Nice video! I see you create an inline table at 1:00, and it shows full page...WTF how did you do that for SEVERAL TABLES in same page? I can only make either several inline tables OR one full page table. Thank you!
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
Not 100% sure what you mean. When you make a database it is always a database page. What I have done is stored the database page in a page, then made linked database views (essentially a copy) to view the database in multiple places. I hope that helps 😁
@darksideofyoutub3 жыл бұрын
Nah I was referring the page was narrow, instead of full width (thougth it was related with tables). i just discovered inside the Page options (3 dots) the toggle "Full width" LOL For anyone interested in setting Full width as the default, this seems interesting notionanswers.com/47/can-i-set-the-full-width-pages-as-default

Thanks for this, very helpful! I'll check out the more detailed video that you mentioned, but it's not immediately apparent why one would create a relation between Notes and Areas presumably when Notes usually move from Notes database to Tasks database. If you have not discussed this rationale before, would appreciate this topic to be considered for an upcoming video.
@DannyHatcherTech3 жыл бұрын
I treat areas as tags so it allows me to categorise notes. That is the main reason.
@BenjaminLStewart3 жыл бұрын
@@DannyHatcherTech So, notes are categorized into areas but could be related to different projects? Trying to internalize... What's the downside to categorizing (relating) notes to projects, since projects already relate to areas?
