It was a challenge getting up there on its side no way I could have up right. Would have been way too tippy with skid steers. Would have had to get a crane

Love the vision! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together… Would like to see all the costs. We need a shop too, SO BAD! So looking for some less expensive alternatives…. Very inventive.

Looks solid. Personaly I wouldn’t but everything. It may not make the building collapse but will 100% alter the integrity of it. I would maybe cut a few small doorways.

Looks great. Im building a similar size one in the the spring, but will be using 20ft pieces of used metal trusses/rafters (kind you see in big stores) between the two containers. What is the reasoning for putting the one container on its side vs vertical?

Honestly it looks plenty rugged enough. I probably would cut all of the container wall out as it might mess with the integrity of it. I would definitely do like a white metal ceiling and then insulation in the ceiling. Lights I’d get some good quality LED lights. Maybe do 6” slab for a floor would be a sweet idea. But it looks like a pretty sweet shop.

What was your reasoning for using shipping containers vs just doing post frame? I'm in Kansas and the cheapest 40ft containers i can find are $3k plus delivered. With that money I could just do a simple pole building and put rafters 8ft on center. Maybe you already had them, just curious.

Including trading work I did this cost me 16,000. I got a quote for a wood structure for 150k ball park. This was so cheap it boggles my mind honestly. How could it be any cheaper? @@tandtlandscapeandmasonry steel master is a rip off, those buildings collapse under snow they are weak . Look up steel pole barn trusses. They bolt together in the middle and will bolt right to your container. All you have to do is attach the cross runner 2x4 in the middle in slots they come pre welded. Then attach your metal roofing and you’re done!! They use them in different applications now including chicken houses on farms , barns etc.. you can install them in just a few hours with only a 2 man crew and a lift.. Good luck , 👍
