Hardly a hack Karl! I would call that good common sense carpentry. Someone once told me on a project "your not building a piece of furniture". Shower house is looking excellent as is your entire cabin site! Well done!!

Thank you so much Mark this project has really been a real great confidence builder. Ever so small the skills that I developed during this project give me the confidence to tackle bigger projects. Have an awesome week brother!!

Very cool! Glad to hear you made it up to the Northwoods. I have a feeling the fall is gonna arrive quickly. I guess we have to enjoy these warmer temperatures while they last. Have an awesome week.

Good morning! Z flashing and silicone to stop water infiltration and insects between your upper and lower panels are meant to save you headaches later down the road. We decided to make a covered screened in area between the cabin (8x8) and shower house. When you backed away and showed the cabin and the shower it looked really good! Great idea! Because of taxes here you can't join the two structures without causing yourself way more expense and paperwork. 😢😮
@karlsoffthegrid1378 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! I’m still pretty early in the project and it would be easy enough to go back and install the Z flashing. Your help is greatly appreciated, have an awesome week!!

Your welcome Karl. I believe that Margaret is really going to enjoy the shower house when it's completed. Also your building methods isn't cheating. It's smart. I'd do it the same way as I'm a machinist not a carpenter. All that matters is that you are happy with end result. Have a great week and hopefully you don't get called into work this weekend. Todd from da U.P.

Thanks Todd, I thought for sure people would show me on my techniques. This project has been a huge confidence builder. It will be so nice not to have to shower outside with the bugs anymore😂. As you could imagine, women aren’t too excited about having mosquitoes mixed up in their shampoo😂😂🤣 Have a great week in da U.P.

Great job!! As a 65 year old guy that has built everything from storage sheds to pole barns and to this day, trusses and roofing are still a thorn in my side. Youve done a great job on this project and saying that you arent a carpenter is really just deflection. You have shown great care and foresight in how youve designed snd built this structure!! You are always an inspiration. Thank you again for sharing!! God bless you and your family!!

That’s awesome to hear thank you so much for your support. It means a lot coming from you. Nice job on the bath house! Looks good. I would of done the building like you. Backyard builder lol. I’m a die maker by trade and i have to be very critical on dimensions at work. I want exact measurements lol. Takes me a long time to build a simple thing. Like to see how your going to plumb it in. I’m sure that’s your next video.
@karlsoffthegrid1378 Жыл бұрын
I’m kind of the same way. I prefer to have exact measurements so I felt a little bit like I was cheating. I’m pretty excited to get to the Plumbing part of things. That part of the project will definitely be easier for me. Thanks for taking the time to comment, have an awesome week.

Thanks for the inspiration. I've got a "3 season" cabin in Maine that I'm living in all year. Winters are tough as the water lines are exposed. You've given me an idea to build a "water house" with a bathroom and kitchen and all the pipes buried in the ground. I hadn't thought of it until your videos gave me the idea!

@@karlsoffthegrid1378 I never found z channel from them but Home Depot has some z channels you could use. They also have some trim sections that would look really nice and you could seal the seams.

Where will your shower drain to?
@karlsoffthegrid1378 Жыл бұрын
I am going to make a temporary grey water system for the shower. We’re not positive but we are leaning towards going towards a composting toilet. I’ll definitely keep you posted in upcoming videos.
@jamesmartin9945 Жыл бұрын
I’m also considering a composting toilet for my off grid cabin … would run the fan for it off of my 12v solar system. But since I only use the cabin 2-3 times per month on average, I’m still not sure the composting toilet is worth the money.
