What was your reason for putting the router table in that orientation? Seems like that’s “upside down” on how traditional router tables are aligned with the fence and feather board slots.
@HAXMAN3 жыл бұрын
I've always used a router mounted in an extended table saw top. This is how they are generally oriented so it's what I'm most comfortable and used to using.
@pag3453 жыл бұрын
@@HAXMAN What do you mean ? I've never seen a router table (in an extension wing or otherwise) where the fence is in between the router and the end of the table. Do you sit on your table to you it ? or do you just shoot it from the side ?

haha yeah I spotted that too...

Looks like you mounted the table on the wrong way. Aren’t the mitre slots for the fence supposed to be on the opposite side of where you stand and work?

People do it different ways. I’m used to the router being mounted in a table saw base and this mimics that setup.

Great video. Followed what you did, and mine turned out almost exactly like yours. I do have a question. Which fence are you planning on using in the router table? Keep it up.

Thanks! That’s great to hear 😃 I actually haven’t needed a fence yet but I’ve been going back and forth on building one or buying one. All the extras are nice but for fifteen years in the cabinet business all I used was a simple diy plywood fence built in thirty minutes. That’s probably the route I’ll take. No pun intended 😄

Wouldn't life for righties be easier if Festool/Makita were Blade Left design? Its a pain walking down a rip cut, while twisted to the left. One day, someone good (... not you Kreg!... ) will make a left blade track saw. And hopefully do it in 7-¼" blade design to make angled rips in heavier lumber, easier. As a former lefty, the righties using track saws just don't know what their missing.

This is exactly what i am doing. I just started a workbench and rather than inserting the router lift and router i am inserting a Rockler router table top. Cost me good money, will look better and do away with my router table thus giving me more space. I am also copying you downdraft section but using peg board sized holes instead.

Good build. I need a good workbench in my garage, but I have a two-car garage and two vehicles to park in it. Harsh winters and summer hail here in South Dakota, so need to be able to park vehicles in the garage, but want some workshop flexibility. I have about two feet of clearance on one side of the garage when both vehicles are parked inside, so I’m going to think about making a similar table but only two-feet wide. Maybe I can add a fold-up extension on the table. Enjoy watching your videos; the levity is a great addition… “really give it to me and hit that thumbs down twice”…. LOL.

Thanks so much! To be honest I've wanted these tools for 15 years. I sold all my industrial tools when I closed my cabinet shop. That's what allowed me to buy these, but I used very basic, inexpensive tools for many years and they worked just fine. Don't be discouraged. It's more about the know-how than the tool.

I used the smaller table. I've got the links to the lift and table in the description so you can see exactly what I used. The Jessem should fit in either one. The corner screw holes don't quite line up between the lift and table but that didn't really bother me. The main thing is the depth and opening size were perfect.

You absolutely could drill a hole in the table with a hole saw and screw your router base to the table bottom. That's what I had on my first workbench. You just have to get under the table to adjust.
